General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of conflict affected population.

Orange partners directly with affected Syrian populations delivering humanitarian and development programmes, Livelihood, Education, and Protection, to enable them to improve their living practices and their sustainability mechanisms.

Orange also collaborates with national and international non-governmental organizations, local initiatives responding to the humanitarian Syrian crisis with capacity development programmes, to be better equipped with the skills they need to prepare and respond to affected population’s needs and to ensure that these communities where we work in are ready for any future disasters.

Job purpose:

The role of the MEAL Officer is to provide support to the MEAL team inside Syria in consultation with both Senior MEAL Officer and Coordinator. Reporting to the Senior MEAL Officer and will be part of the team, providing MEAL services to the training team and ongoing trainings and projects.

Duties, objectives and competencies:

  • Orange database:

    • Organize the M&E database, files and records.
    • Update the M&E database on a daily basis.
    • Produce a daily report on the data collected on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • M&E tools:

    • Revise & modify the M&E tools on a regular basis, in close coordination with the MEAL Officer and Training team.
    • Prepare a guide for each M&E form
    • Assist the staff to well understand the M&E tools (forms, data collection methods).
  • Data Collection:

    • Support MEAL team in the coordination of data collection activities for surveys, assessments, and focus group discussion.
    • Liaise with team for ICT-related issues for mobile data collection.
  • Data analysis and interpretation:

    • To assist the MEAL Coordinator in data analysis and interpretation
    • To conduct internet – based and database research when required.
  • Translation:

    • To translate all data in the database and reports into English (feedback details, assessments…)
    • Other office work supporting all staff

Requirements (essential):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • knowledge of competency assessment
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft packages, including Excel, Word, and Outlook (particular emphasis on Excel) and smart phone applications.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload in a in a rapidly changing work environment;
  • A flexible approach to work and willingness to take on extra duties, work additional hours or on weekends as required;
  • Willingness to learn and to take on extra duties as required;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Trustworthy and honest; and ability to write, speak and work in English (Excellent).
  • Diplomacy and negotiation skills; and High communications skills and deep knowledge of the Syria context.
