The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration of two years. At the end of the initial two-year contractual period, there are good prospects for conversion of the contract from a fixed-term to an open-ended employment contract. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.

As MEAL Advisor at Welthungerhilfe, you will actively contribute to achieving the goals of the Sector Strategy, Knowledge and Learning Unit, with a special focus on the areas of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning. With your work you will ensure high project and program quality and promote institutional learning of the organization.

Your responsibilities

  • Advising on the development, planning and implementation of MEAL systems and activities of Welthungerhilfe and its project partner organizations. This may for instance include advising on the development and improvement of programs, MEAL budgets and staffing structures, theories of change, logframes, management information systems, and data quality
  • Capacity development in MEAL-related issues and topics, including MEAL system development, MEAL management, data collection, processing and analysis, and data-based program learning, including in civil society partnership settings
  • Independent conception and coordination of further strategic initiatives in the MEAL area
  • Management and further development of the global MEAL database

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree relevant to the position and methodological competence in the MEAL field
  • At least 3 years of job-relevant professional experience, ideally in a development context in the global south
  • Solid experience in the design of MEAL systems, including Theory of Change, Logical Frameworks and Data Quality Assessments
  • Experience in questionnaire development, data collection and data management; experience with CommCare is a plus
  • Demonstrated competency in data analysis and visualization of quantitative and qualitative data via Excel, SPSS/Stata/R, or PowerBI
  • Strong knowledge transfer and consulting skills,including in civil society partnership settings
  • Ability to cooperate and work in a team in an intercultural environment
  • Willingness to travel to project countries with unstable security situation
  • Excellent spoken and written English, German and French skills
