The Position
The Mathematics Curriculum Coordinator (Secondary) will work with the Mathematics Curriculum Specialist (Secondary) to draft and implement a revised curriculum for the Mathematics Curriculum Years 9-13, including an updated scope and sequence, teacher guides, and teacher training modules (pre- and in-service).
A key focus of the role is to provide high-level, contextualised knowledge and understanding of the education landscape, and teaching and learning needs of Fijian students, including advising on integrating cross-cutting themes and curriculum perspectives in a contextually relevant way. Additionally, the role will facilitate partnership work with MOE in the development and implementation of the Y9 revised curriculum during school year 2024. The role will work closely with the Literacy and Numeracy team (Primary) to ensure a seamless transition between the revised Y8 and Y9 Mathematics curricula.
The Person
The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and ability to inspire this in others. They will have excellent interpersonal, relationship management and negotiation skills. The candidate will have the ability to work with multiple stakeholders with varied backgrounds and levels. They will demonstrate capacity to plan and deliver high quality and effective training workshops around mathematics strategies. They will have high level of experience in coaching, providing support and capacity building of teachers and heads of schools, to improve learning strategies and outcomes. This person will have experience in implementing practical and impactful Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion approaches.
This position is locally engaged and reserved for National Citizens of Fiji. The annual salary will be between FJD 67,000 and 75,412 dependent upon the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
