The Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services (GPPS) unit provides technical expertise and operational support to the IRC’s private sector High Value (HV) fundraising teams so that they may focus on forward-facing donor engagement. GPPS is a first-of-its-kind, truly HV ecosystem that provides a single, unified service model and experience that caters to the HV teams’ diverse income streams and partners.

The Manager, Prospect Research – USA sits within GPPS’s Prospect Research & Management team, supporting the IRC’s sustainability by finding opportunities for funding, focusing our resources, and protecting our reputation through due diligence. The Manager will participate in team-wide projects, support team operations that strengthen prospect research and research systems, work to improve team functions, and elevate the team’s role as strategic partners.

In this role, you will directly impact the IRC’s US private fundraising efforts by providing high-quality donor research and input to HV fundraising through deliverables such as research profiles, capacity ratings, due diligence reports, prospect management, and collaborating with members of the team, other strategic partners, as well as fundraisers. You will contribute reliable and timely qualitative and quantitative data and trend analysis to support the IRC’s mission.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Create capacity ratings, conduct biographical and philanthropic research on donors and prospects;
  • Write confidential research profiles on individual and/or company and trust & foundation donors/prospects for meetings and planning;
  • Provide due-diligence research reports on individuals, companies and trusts & foundations;
  • Support team members in prospect management, providing holistic research services to fundraisers on a 1:1 basis;
  • Proactively seek and apply insights from fundraisers and other partners to identify improvements;
  • Promote teams’ services to colleagues through guidance, trainings, and reports;
  • Support special projects such as electronic screening by vendors and news alerts system;
  • Additional assignments as directed by supervisor

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 years’ equivalent experience.
  • Working proficiency (written and spoken) in English
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in internet search engines and advanced search techniques
  • Abides by APRA Principles of Ethics and Compliance

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with Salesforce or other relational CRM (customer relationship management) system
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analyzing and interpreting data
  • Synthesizing complex information from multiple sources
  • Superb organization and detail orientation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Work experience in prospect development in fundraising, international orgs a plus
  • Excited by challenges and opportunities for problem solving
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver on time in a fast-paced environment, sometimes with limited guidance
  • Flexibility and perseverance; shown ability to work effectively in an international team setting and independent environments, and the willingness to meet unexpected demands with positivity
  • Ability to act with sensitivity and discretion while working with highly confidential information
  • Interest and experience in due diligence research

Working Environment:

This role may require working remotely full- or part-time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.

Compensation:

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
