  arche noVa – Initiative for People in Need is a non-religious, independent non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) with Headquarters in Germany. We work in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development and primarily focus on the WASH sector.
Globally, arche noVa currently works in twelve countries. Since 2013, we have been implementing projects for IDPs, returnees and host communities in Northern Iraq and Kurdistan (Diyala, Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk Governorate).
arche noVa provides WASH services in IDP camps in Sulaymaniyah, Kalar and Khanaqeen. Over and above that, we also provide WASH services and support outside of camps by rehabilitating WASH facilities in schools and health centers, as well as improving water and sewerage systems in villages. arche noVa is further expanding on these WASH support activities through a more sustainable long-term and holistic approach focused on community engagement, capacity building and livelihood diversification in the agricultural sector, yet always continuing to keep WASH at its core.
arche noVa co-leads the WASH Sub-cluster in Sulaymaniyah Governorate and the WASH Working Group in Northern Diyala Governorate.
Objective of the position:
As member of the Programme Department, the Livelihoods & Food Security Consultant will be supporting the HoP in overall technical design and delivery of LHFS project activities and related activity plans. She/he ������will also support with training and mentoring as well as quality assurance of project outputs. The role involves a close coordination with AN staff in field (frequent travels) as well as networking with project partners and other stakeholders,. He/she will also contribute to AN���������s strategy development as well as provide key contributions to the development of new projects at the mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:������

Under the supervision of the HoP and in close coordination with the Humanitarian Projects Coordinator (HPC) and other relevant colleagues, contribute to project content develo-tuning with regards to LFS pilot project intervention, providing well-researched programmatic alternatives as well as inputs to activities��������� plans and budgets;
Plan and follow-up on the mission���������s project activities in the FSLH sector according to proposals and target milestones in collaboration with the HoP;
Support monitoring of the FSLH activities by visiting the field locations regularly and ensuring that services are provided according to the project planning in collaboration with AN MEAL Coordinator and HoP;
Contribute to budget monitoring of the FSLH project activities to ensure the proper utilization of funds;
In close coordination with HPC, provide technical input in response to funding opportunities in concept notes and proposals including, detailed activity description, logic framework, TOC and MEAL plans;
Closely cooperate with AN Support Departments to help HoP ensure holistic and smooth implementation of FSLH activities and projects, while supporting HoP in project compliance contand lead delivery of trainings and other capacity development sessions and modules centred at core LFS topics including food and nutritional security as well as livelihood asset creation, recovery and protection in rural and urban settings, etc.;
Train, coach and mentor AN project teams on FSLH issues;
Supervise, follow up on and quality-assure FSLH deliverables commissioned by AN to external experts and consultants, support HoP in development of related Terms of Reference;
Based on need, conduct regular contextual analysis of macro and micro economic situation in Iraq, including market assessments or value-chain analyses, and inform AN Country Team on recent developments of relevance and necessary adjustment in projects, mainstreaming international best practices to activities��������� delivery plans;
Support the HoP in coordinating with Cluster and NGO counterparts, contributing to and enhancing technical dialogue between AN Iraq and relevant FSL counterparts;
Provide technical inputs to AN Country Strategylose coordination with AN Iraq MEAL coordinator, provide technical support on developing new assessments and MEAL tools (including Market Assessments) in the FSLH sector, ensuring that relevant information is being collected to inform strategy and implementation, to ensure accountability and learning as well as quality donor reporting;
Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities, ensure that AN targets beneficiary most in need of assistance, explore and assess new and better ways to assist, including protection principles;
Other duties assigned by the Head of Mission and Head of Programmes;
Demonstrate commitment to Humanitarian Principles and arche noVa���������s Code of Con Minimum 5 years��������� experience in livelihoods and food security projects��������� delivery in Iraq;
Hands-on experience in humanitarian and development project practice in the livelihood and food security sector, including technical quality assurance and budget control;
At least two years��������� experience in international NGOs;
Experience of training design, training delivery and facilitation in topics relevant to the position;
Well proven experience of field-based mentoring and building the capacity of communities and partners;
Experience in stakeholder liaison;
Understanding of safeguarding and protection principles applied in humanitarian work;
Experience in designing, undertaking and/or supervising market-oriented needs assessments;
Track record in LFS project proposal development, including budgeting and theory of change design
Suitable educational qualification in economics, business administration and/or agricultural science;
Proven analytical skills including capacity for contextual analysis lation;
Proficient in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel);
Sound report writing skills in English language;
Very strong grasp on Humanitarian Protection and Accountability to the affected population;
Excellent verbal communication and written skills both in Arabic and English; Kurdish is an added advantage.
Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and ability to communicate technical content to varied audiences including people with limited literacy.
Excellent planning and organizational skills;
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines;
Flexibility, adaptability and willingness to take on tasks;
Interpersonal and cross-cultural sensitivity and experience;
Ability to treat individuals with fairness and respect, demonstrating sensitivity for ethnic, cultural and gender differences;
