Overview of Job Description

Africa Trade and Investment (ATI) Activity seeks a local facilitator to create awareness and sensitize the 15 counties about the Liberia Agribusiness Incubator Grant opportunity, to potential applicants in remote and less accessible counties to, connect and build rapport, understand their needs, communicate calls for grants opportunity needs and conduct understanding. The facilitator to support a series of roadshows in targeted locations in Liberia during November and December 2022. The facilitator and ATI Activity Lead will showcase the Agribusiness APS – call for grant opportunities on offer to incubators and agribusinesses in the three (3) major agricultural production counties i.e. Margibi, Bong and Nimba in the first week from 21-25 November 2022. The Facilitator will organize, coordinate, and facilitate roadshows in the capital cities of each county – Kakata in Margibi, Gbarnga in Bong, and Ganta in Nimba.

The facilitator will lead local roadshows in each of the selected counties to mobilize and create public awareness and engagement, aided with photographing, weekly updates, and a final report. During the roadshows, the facilitator will help ensure the participation and engagement of relevant stakeholders in the Agribusiness, SME, and Commercial sector, including local farmers, farming input suppliers, market traders, and agricultural logistics actors. The Facilitator will support in moderation, questions, and time management in order to successfully cover the regional distance as well as capture, suggestions, recommendations, key takeaways, and next steps to improve traction and reach of the launched Call for Grants opportunity in the country.

Responsibilities

  • The Facilitator will be available for a brief planning session in Monrovia on 21 November 2022.
  • Under the technical direction of the Activity Manager, the Facilitator will lead, develop, train relevant support teams, facilitate, troubleshoot, finalize, and successfully ensure a highly functioning roadshow platform for the roadshow series.
  • The Facilitator will work with the ATI team to prepare an engagement strategy for the roadshows including scheduling and developing a roadshow map of target areas to cover in addition to transport facilitation.
  • The Facilitator will coordinate and ensure all local logistics are arranged and secured before each zone roadshow session.
  • Facilitation of Agribusiness Activity Call for Grants opportunity roadshows in at least 4 weeks from November to the end of December 2022.
  • As part of the engagement strategy, manage and capture suggestions, and questions from members of the Agribusiness, commercial, agricultural, and SME sectors on challenges and needs in addition to a verbal commitment to apply for the opportunity.
  • Distribute fact sheet and visibility materials highlighting the Liberia Agribusiness Incubator call for grants opportunity.
  • Record, document, produce and share weekly and final reports related to Agribusiness Call for Grant Opportunity.
  • Create a positive, dynamic, and productive roadshow by leading and moderating public engagement.
  • Provide guidance on the next steps and action items for each roadshow.

Anticipated Outcomes/Deliverables:

  • Efficient and effective sessions that adhere to the Agribusiness Incubator opportunity objectives
  • Final presentation of recorded, documented, and insights reports ( to be co-developed with the ATI team)
  • Summary of key takeaways, learnings, and next steps, as well as topics or issues that were unresolved and require further discussion or follow-up

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with public-facing facilitation skills in Liberia (urban and rural settings), in both small and large groups clarifying objectives and communication in a group, consensus building, and attracting interest from the public
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, business administration, project management or a relevant field, such as performative arts
  • A minimum of 2 years experience leading or co-leading advocacy or marketing engagements, programs, roadshows, and public rallies using creative or dynamic activity design in Liberia.
  • Experience designing and delivering programs to a multicultural, international audience required with preferred experience in Liberia
  • Strong communication, reporting, and time management skills
  • Familiarity with USAID and/or the international development sector preferred

Reporting

This activity will be undertaken under the direction of and overseen by ATI Activity Manager in close collaboration with ATI and USAID Liberia.
