Growing law firm seeking an experienced paralegal to work in our The Villages Office.

About you The right candidate will be excited about supporting our firm attorneys with trust probate and guardianship matters.

Compensation

$45,000 – $55,000 DOE

Responsibilities

Here are a few things you would be doing (though not an all-inclusive list)

  • Effectively correspond with clients, financial institutions, and/or beneficiaries to obtain needed information.
  • Obtain, track and complete all required forms.
  • Draft applicable correspondence.
  • Meet with clients to obtain needed information.
  • Stay one step ahead and help prepare attorneys for court.
  • Proactively track and monitor deadlines.
  • Keep all files up to date using MyCase.
  • Correspond effectively with probate court as needed.
  • Promptly respond to clients on all questions and provide timely updates on the status of files.
  • Track all time worked daily.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word with a strong aptitude toward math and basic calculations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to document clearly.
  • Well-organized and able to follow established procedures and utilize firm databases such as MyCase and Trello.
  • You enjoy puzzles and pulling all the pieces together. Excellent communication, interpersonal and empathy skills will enable you to correspond with a variety of folks on behalf of the client, including creditors, relatives, probate court, etc. It is vital that you are warm, friendly, energetic, poised, and team-oriented.

Here Are Some Of The Other Basic Qualifications

And we know that the right person can absolutely be taught the right methods.

  • Associates Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
  • 2-4+ years’ experience with Florida probate and/or guardianship.
  • Notary public a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of the internet, legal research tools, court websites, and familiarity with practice management software.
  • Comfortable in supporting more than one attorney and interacting with clients and other professionals.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads with chancing priorities and manage workflow process effectively.
  • Client service-oriented—must be passionate about helping clients and their families; take pride in and joy in providing the highest quality services possible, and enjoy creating a welcoming and warm environment.
  • Confident, polished, professional demeanor and appearance, including how you speak and how you act with clients and other professionals.
  • Able to learn, accurately follow, and manage workflow systems.
  • Self-starter and highly accountable who thrives on immersion in a rapidly changing environment and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude, with great follow-through and resourcefulness along with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be personable yet persistent.
