Position Summary

Reporting to the President and CEO, Medical Group or designee, the Lead Business Intelligence Analyst (BA) will serve an instrumental role in the Ambulatory Services department at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Medical Group (“MLK CMG”). The BA will provide consultative and technical services for identifying, extracting, and integrating clinical, financial and other data from internal and/or external data sources to support quality improvement, Practice and Financial initiatives. Primarily responsible for coordination of data and reporting to appropriate committees/departments. In addition, shall provide support for performance improvement activities using data to set priorities for improvement. This role will lead the Accounting Coordinator and the Project Manager.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT and others to develop and improve the Medical Group Data Warehouse and reporting platforms.
  • Responsible for leading and managing duties assigned to the Project Manager and the Accounting Coordinator.
  • Responsible for producing quality, productivity and financial dashboards.
  • Responsible for data review, auditing, aggregation, and analysis of data across various programs/service lines.
  • Trend data to identify potential opportunities (e.g., variances, significant outliers, and percentile ranked groups) for quality improvement, internal and external reporting, or focused investigations.
  • Analyze data and summarize into quality indicator values.
  • Identify external benchmarks of care for comparative purposes.
  • Develop tabular and graphical presentations of data which clearly and concisely illustrate current levels of care.
  • Develop comprehensive data dashboards to illustrate department and provider performance on key performance indicators and measures.
  • Identify and quantify impact of existing and prospective services on healthcare utilization and hospital admission reduction.
  • Design re-measurement strategies (after interventions) of healthcare processes and outcomes to effectively quantify the impact of interventions for improvement.
  • Analyze, review, forecast, and presents information for programmatic, operational, and business planning.
  • Tracks outliers and provides data reports and other information related to specific metrics to facilitate analysis and follow-up for the purpose of improving care processes and patient outcomes.
  • Effectively communicates metric performance to committees, departments and Medical Group leaders.
  • Produces reports outlining various aspects of evaluation and analytics.
  • Involvement in the daily operations of the department to include PI database management and PI reports management. Manages daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports accurately and timely.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required, Master’s degree preferred in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or related discipline (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science).
  • Qualifications/Experience
  • Minimum of two years of hands-on SAS, STATA, SQL or other statistical programming work experience or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one year experience with health-related analytic research and quality improvement methodology required.
  • Fluency in SAS, STATA, SQL, Tableau, or other statistical programming software and MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Knowledge of statistical or epidemiological methodologies, and automation techniques for analytic tasks.
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive information while preserving the confidentiality of the information.
  • Working knowledge of health systems, Medicare/Medicaid preferred, healthcare databases and coding systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to perform a variety of tasks requiring independent thought and research. Creativity and latitude is required.
  • Special Skills/Knowledge

Excellent communication skills and evidence of collaborative practice. History of successful analytic processes and outcomes. Expertise in healthcare delivery systems and performance improvement is highly preferred. Ability to collaborate in a team environment and produce positive outcomes.
