The Global Health Division is conducting an internal and external recruit for a Knowledge Management and Learning Advisor the anticipated USAID Global Health Risk and Capacity Mechanism (GHRC). The program will support the transition of direct health program implementation to local implementing partners. USAID Health programs supported by GHRC will include: HIV, maternal and child health, nutrition, malaria, family planning, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, health systems strengthening, emerging and pandemic diseases, and other health areas that will arise. GHRC will support USAID Missions and Washington Based Operating Units (OU) abilities to manage local awards to non-government, government partners, and other partners, as well as local organizations’ abilities to successfully manage USAID funding and comply with USAID regulations. The program’s three objectives include 1) support USAID OUs’ engagement with local organizations and government partners, 2) support capacity strengthening of USAID funded local health partners through technical assistance to individual organizations and government entities, and 3) support capacity of USAID-funded local health partners through global activities that promote knowledge exchange. The Knowledge Management and Learning Advisor will work closely with the GHRC project director and project team to deliver Objective 3 which will help strengthen the capacity of local organizations through global activities including training, webinars, and global and/or regional convenings of local organizations and government entities. The Knowledge Management and Learning Advisor will oversee all aspects of convening and knowledge sharing management for the GHRC mechanism, while providing support to the project director, USAID, and local organizations. This position will be based in Washington, D.C. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops strong understanding of GHRC project goals and strategies and ensures they are integrated into knowledge sharing, communications, and outreach activities
  • Oversee the planning, organization, logistics, and curricula for virtual and/or in-person USAID Global Health Bureau hosted local organization meetings convening USAID local, regional, and/or government partners.
  • Provide specific and specialized support for government partners as requested, including but not limited to the organization, logistics support and facilitation of G2G workshops with partner governments, and G2G global or regional cross OU sharing/learning seminars.
  • Facilitate/establish knowledge sharing platforms for learning exchanges between partners and countries, such as develop and deliver webinars consistently throughout the lifetime of the project focused on USAID, PEPFAR, and other technical reporting and policy requirements for new and existing partners, as well as other relevant topics as requested by USAID.
  • Support resource and knowledge sharing through communications platforms, including website and newsletter.
  • Work closely with the project director and other members of the GHRC mechanism team to establish and maintain knowledge sharing and communications processes and procedures.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and applies knowledge on movements in industries and programs related to social media and digital spheres.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with PEPFAR, USAID, local partner organizations, and other key stakeholders to ensure the success of GHRC activities

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in communications, marketing, international development, public health, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in brand, marketing, or strategic communications, with demonstrated skill developing and executing successful knowledge sharing and communications strategies, planning and facilitating global multi-stakeholder convenings, and developing and managing the dissemination of knowledge products across partners.
  • Experience in local partner capacity building communications and support preferred.
  • Familiarity with USAID health communications project and programs preferred.
  • Ability to connect individual communications activities or products to higher-level strategies and goals, as well as an ability to write story-driven content about complex technical subjects and projects that engages target audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively both orally and in writing, and deliver presentations, training, and facilitate meetings effectively
  • Strong technology skills, including virtual meeting and webinar platforms, and website and newsletter design and communications.
  • Strong visual thinker with knowledge of basic graphic design and information design; experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluent English oral and written communication skills are required
