We are looking for a Junior Underwriter, based in Wallisellen, Zurich, to join our Financial Lines Team.

Your Team

Allianz Commercial offers a suite of financial lines insurance solutions specifically designed to address the liabilities of companies, managers and professionals in today’s increasingly litigious and demanding business world. From specialist centers across the globe, we provide financial lines insurance for companies ranging from multi-nationals to smaller businesses – including a range of specialist solutions for Financial Institutions – and for individual directors and managers. The Impact You Will Have

Based in Switzerland as part of our Financial Lines team, you will be responsible for supporting and underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet targets regionally, including global elements. Your responsibilities will also include negotiating participation, pricing and terms & conditions; supporting the acquisition of new business and retaining existing business. You will work closely with clients and brokers to develop personalized solutions, as well as maintaining existing and developing new relationships.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Support the team of underwriters in their tasks to underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets within predefined underwriting authority
• Participate in the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary) in line with Underwriting Strategy
• Proactively prepare relevant underwriting information including client / market research and claims data
• Assist in pricing of risks, using global tools as appropriate
• Manage timely and accurate booking of policy premiums and credit control / collection processes
• Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers at peer level

What You’ll Bring To The Role

• Experience in Underwriting, Operations, or Claims
• Understanding of the policy administration life cycle: information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation
• Basic understanding of the local insurance market and competitor landscape
• Experience working in complex, global matrix organization
• Be at ease creating and maintaining relationships both inside the company and with external contacts
• Have a pro-active and positive attitude to team work, able to assist others and also take on your own responsibilities
• Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail and draw appropriate conclusions
• Clearly and effectively able to express ideas and messages via presentations/speech or in writing.
• Ability to persuade and motivate others to act without direct authority
• Fluent English and German language skills, French would be advantageous
