As a Data Scientist, you’ll be working on ambitious data-driven systems, looking to create simple data-lead solutions for complex problems within our Universal Credit digital services team.

You’ll be working closely with a variety of teams and stakeholders to outline, design and develop these innovations with the claimant at the centre of our strategy, improving the way that millions of UK citizens interact with our essential services.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Applied maths, statistics & scientific practices: Understands the theoretical basis for applied practices and is beginning to be able to apply the theory to practical examples.
  • Communicating analysis & insight: Aware of the need to translate technical concepts into non-technical language and understands what communication is required to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Programming & build: Understands the process of software development and has a basic knowledge of how services/software components are developed and built.
  • Experience of using SQL and R/Python
