Junior Attorney (Buffalo, NY)

Our firm has offices in Buffalo and New York City and we are currently seeking a full-time Junior Attorney, licensed to practice law in multiple jurisdictions to join the team in either office or remotely from home if you live outside of New York state. Ideal jurisdictions include: AK, AZ, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, MS, NJ, NY and OH. This position entails working with managing attorneys and support staff both in-person and through communications via telephone, e-mail, and ZOOM or similar video platforms, therefore, periodic travel to the law firm servicer’s office to oversee operations should be expected. This position imparts broad responsibilities and exposes you to a range of legal issues related to consumer protection, including transactional and civil litigation matters.

In addition, this role will be focused on consultation with clients and negotiations with creditors. Ideal candidates will be proactive, team players who are quick and eager to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and supervising a heavy & diversified caseload of the firm’s clients in New York
• Communicating with clients regarding their respective matters
• Communicating with opposing parties to resolve/settle claims
• Legal research related to simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law

Qualifications

• Must be currently admitted to practice law in New York (multiple-state admission is a big PLUS, particularly any of the following states: Florida, California, Kansas, Texas, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Virginia)
• Must be able to work independently as well as in collaboration with others
• Possess superior organizational & time-management skills to meet strict time deadlines
• Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner with employees of all levels throughout the organization
