Vattenfall
About the Company
Vattenfall is a European energy company with approximately 20 000 employees. For more than 100 years we have electrified industries, supplied energy to people’s homes and modernized our way of living through innovation and cooperation. We now want to make fossil-free living possible within one generation. To be able to reach this ambitious goal we are looking for talented individuals who, in addition to their passion for their own role, also have strong team spirit and want to contribute to supporting a meaningful corporate mission.
Now, it could be you shaping our path towards fossil free living. We are searching for talented individuals to join us on our journey towards fossil free living. Individuals that challenge the way we think, lead us down new paths and contribute to solving the biggest challenge of humankind – climate change. Is this you?
By applying for the IT & Strategy Talent Program you can become one of 23 talents working towards that goal. Each of the 23 positions in the program is unique and has its own specific responsibilities and challenges. This is a two-year program with a strong focus on your development. You will have an individual development plan aiming at a targeted competence profile after two years and building blocks with learning goals towards that target. As part of the program, you can look forward to assignments/rotations providing you with opportunities to deliver tangible value.
Your role as a DevOps & Automation Engineer
Vattenfall´s German Customer IT department designs, develops and maintains a broad portfolio of IT solutions to boost business processes automation, enable fully digital consumer journeys and effectively integrate fossil-free products like Heat-Pumps or Solar Panels!
We are responsible for all IT-driven processes that our customers use. This ranges from a multitude of self-service web portals, over larger data bases to applications for our Call Center agents.
This is exactly where you come into play: as DevOps & Automation Engineer you directly jump into action as you become part of an empowered team. You will facilitate, inspire and lead the process of iterative refinements and improvements of the entire cycle from software development, to testing, delivery, deployment, operations and maintenance.
Your daily activities:
- Drive the digitalization of our Sales business and explore cloudification scenarios according to our platform architecture
- Strengthen and further automate our end-to-end capabilities aiming at both, an improved software quality as well as higher delivery efficiency
- Become an active member of our agile development teams where you moderate, collect, shape and implement prioritized changes
- Contribute to the stability and scalability of our services through your profound interest in the entire technology stack and deployment chain. You are not only passionate about coding, you want to understand how bits and pieces work together to form the full solution
Who are you?
You want to drive digital innovations and you are a firm believer of using your skills to tackle climate change. We believe you are a brilliant networker, a critical thinker, a resourceful innovator and a keen learner who always keeps an ear to the ground to catch up on developments.
- Graduate, or up to two years’ work experience
- Strong background in IT (software) engineering
- Keen to ‘learn by doing’
- Able to handle a steep learning curve
As a DevOps & Automation Engineer you recognize yourself in the following:
- Focused on IT technology (experience in the Microsoft Tech stack like Azure and .NET is a plus) with a strong understanding that all we do is about people and our customers
- Passionate to deliver top notch digital user experience for our customers
- Willing to continuously learn new things, regardless whether it is a new programing language or the discovery of new cloud services
- Experience with software quality, software testing, CI/CD and/or build pipelines as well as agile/SCRUM methodologies (nice to have)
- Some basic German language skills (nice to have)
You are our ideal talent if you…
- hate doing repetitive tasks, because automating them is much smarter
- like high quality software, because bad software sucks
- get excited when working with different people from different disciplines, because you can make them work all together for your own purpose
- enjoy having helped a mixed team of IT Developers and Engineers to deliver more stable and scalable software
- take pride in turning rather unspecific business expectations into a convincing set of software requirements
- feel energized by having converted an existing legacy application into a cloud-native design or into a containerized cloud deployment
