Position Overview

We are looking for a savvy Research Associate to support our R&D team based in Switzerland with project activities across development and early to late-stage product development.

In this role, you will be an integral part of a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary team and act as the focal contact and technical referent point for a team of 3 team members. You will have the opportunity to contribute technical expertise to develop and implement new products and original applications methods to make agricultural practices more sustainable.

This position is currently based in Changins near Nyon and reporting to the R&D Lead Scientist Europe.

Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and execute Greenhouse and field trials on different crops (mainly perennials, row crops)
Apply a Farmer’s common sense to our research and development activities
Facilitate and coordinate the interactions with our Site facilities (organization, plant watering, Greenhouse space booking and management)
Maintain a close link between Development activities, practical farming knowledge and latest technical evolutions (products, endemic and emerging diseases & pests, alternative pesticides, cropping practices)
Maintain and/or establish connections with local technical institutes
Ensure that practical success factors for Field Trials and Greenhouse are met:
Field: field selection, farmer relationships, field follow-up, maintenance
Greenhouse: plant and product material supply, material, product supply, space and maintenance treatments, watering (including some occasional week-end shifts)
Manage the collection of accurate data in Field and Greenhouse to make trials conclusive. Process and archive data in the appropriate format or database for further data analysis and statistics

Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor in the area of Agronomy, Crop Protection, Plant Pathology
Academic background in Agriculture, Chemistry, Plant Protection, Field Production or analytic methods or techniques is a plus
Broad technical and practical experience covering field & farming activities, biology, as well as plants pests and pathogens
Experience in lab and Greenhouse work in a R&D facility
Knowledge and understanding of local agricultural cropping systems, pests, and practices is a must

You are a driven self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple projects while collaborating across different disciplines. You bring a passion and deep curiosity for Agronomy and have the practical Know-how to develop original trial designs – with the objective of understanding novel technologies that can potentially solve unmet farmer problems.

You have the talent to evolve in a network of Scientists, Agronomists and Lab & Field Technicians and a proven track record of maintaining and fostering excellent work relationships.

You possess excellent communication and presentation skills and are capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.

You bring what it takes to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with changing requirements and ambiguity and a strong need for achieving results.
