Consultant Title: Introductory Corporate Governance Course Instructor
Project : USAID Responsible Investment and Trade Activity
Location : Remote
Reports to : Private Sector Director or his designee
Duration : on/about February 21, 2022 – September 30, 2022

Purpose:
In order to increase responsible investment and trade, the Activity will promote the understanding of, and demand for, improved corporate governance with Myanmar SMEs, recognizing the key role of corporate governance in SMEs’ obtaining investment or bank loans, facilitating informed business decision making, and in some instances, attracting international buyers.
A key Activity tool to promote and increase demand for improved SME corporate governance will be an introductory training course on corporate governance, which should be followed by subsequent corporate governance courses with more advanced topics. To achieve economies of scale, all of the Activity’s courses will be online, self-paced and on-demand, with live sessions potentially at particular points in the courses. The introductory corporate governance course (“Course”) will be based on complying with the Companies Law 2017 while also including basic topics in corporate governance.
This scope of work is for the Consultant to (1) review and proof the Course syllabus and PowerPoint deck, (2) deliver the voice-over narration in Burmese for each Course module according to the provided (and modified, if needed) script for each slide, (3) respond to questions from training participants during the training cohort, and (4) update all course material each time after the first two pilot deliveries and the first session after the course is officially launched. If there is sufficient interest, we will add more course sessions, and this extends the Instructor contract.

Task
The Consultant would perform one or all of the following tasks:

  • Review and proof the course slide deck: The Course syllabus and content are being developed in English by a subject matter expert and will be translated into the Myanmar language by a professional translator. The Consultant will review and make revisions to the English and Burmese language syllabi, PowerPoint slides, script, and other text in order to ensure consistency with the Myanmar Companies Law 2017 and accuracy of language for technical terminology and concepts.
  • Narrate the PowerPoint slides: The Consultant will narrate the Course as a PowerPoint or similar video in Burmese based on the updated PowerPoint slides and script.
  • Support Course participants: Through the Course’s online discussion chat forum, the Consultant will monitor discussions and provide guidance to participants during the first two Course deliveries.
