Marketing Data Analyst Intern (Paris / Bordeaux)

The Marketing Data squad is made of 5 people sharing the same passion for data, gathering various skills from data architecture to data science, with a marketing expertise. We support the marketing department in any kind of data-driven projects, and collaborate closely with the Back Market central Data team. Working within the Marketing Data squad, you’ll have a key role in bringing data, facts and insights to our decision-making process and be expect to be exposed to various marketing topics (media, CRM, merchandising, etc) and data projects (data transformation, reporting, analysis, etc).

BuyBack BI Analyst (Paris / Bordeaux)

As a part of the Buyback Team, you will be actively contributing to the growth of Back Market by helping our refurbishing partners to source used products and fuel the circular economy. You will be responsible for tracking the Buyback performances and support the team members on their daily data needs. Also, you will contribute to key projects on a large variety of business topics (traffic, UX/CX, payment, logistics, pricing, profitability, customer care, …).

Customer Care Data Analyst (Bordeaux)

Working within the Global Customer Care team, you’ll have a key role in bringing data, facts and insights to our decision-making process

The team is made of 7 people sharing the same passion for scale-ups, gathering various skills from Data, Ops, and Tools. The Data Analyst and Data Analyst Intern support the Care department in any kind of data-driven projects. You will participate in the growth and success of Back Market by ensuring the performance of Customer Service through accurate monitoring and implementation of improvement actions

As a member of this team, expect to be exposed to various Cost and Performance topics related to the 16 countries BackMarket operates in (data transformation, reporting, analysis, etc)

Intern Finance Analyst for Sellers (Paris/Bordeaux)

As a key member of the Payment Fraud & Risk Team, and reporting to our Seller Finance Manager, you will help develop and scale Back Market, both on the operational finance & the strategic side. Your role will be to use and develop tools to ensure the sustainability of Back Market business towards our current and future sellers. Based in our Paris or Bordeaux Office, you will work closely with our BI finance, New Biz & Activation Ops, Supply Operations and BoT teams, a group of passionate professionals who are dedicated to making sure that our products and the Back Market brand stand out!

Marketing Data Analyst Missions:

  • Your missions will include data transformation, reporting and analysis on various digital marketing topics (growth, acquisition, crm, customer value, merchandising):
  • > Leveraging Snowflakes, Big Query and Tableau, you will build and maintain reports that are used daily by managers for strategic decisions: you will work with them on KPI definitions, data transformation and data visualization
  • > Leveraging data from multiple sources (back office, customer care, marketing platforms, google analytics), you will conduct analysis on customer behavior, such as repeat purchase dynamics, and find actionable insights that will contribute to Back Market’s success

BuyBack BI Analyst Missions:

  • Be responsible for answering and assisting the team on data & analyses needs
  • Be responsible for maintaining, updating and improving the monitoring tools (using SQL, Tableau, Excel)
  • Track and monitor the operational performances of the Buyback based on key performance indicators (GMV, Average baskets, conversion, etc…) on a daily / weekly / monthly basis

PROJECTS – Examples of projects and topics you could work on

  • Quality: build new KPIs and dashboards to track, analyze and improve customer satisfaction, contact rate and merchant quality
  • Traffic and conversion: build shared analyses with the marketing acquisition and web analytics teams to optimize buyback conversion
  • Price and profitability: analyze data to determine the buyback prices to optimize conversion and profitability
  • Partnerships: build specific dashboards to track partners performance and provide them with data to help them grow with us
  • International: build Buyback reporting in new countries

Customer Care Data Analyst Missions:

  • Monitor and control the operational and financial performance of Customer Care Operations (customer satisfaction, agent quality, time to solve a claim, speed and service levels, cost per order/contact, etc.)
  • Build ad hoc analysis and tools for the teams to help them take strategic decisions and be more efficient in their daily work
  • Participate in the launch of new Customer Care projects by providing the necessary data for the launch
  • Understand how to improve the customer experience through data to actively participate in the Customer Care project roadmap
  • Actively participate in the weekly review of the department’s performance

Intern Finance Analyst for Sellers Missions:

  • You will manage the KYB (Know Your Business) to Approve process in Europe and be responsible to understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any suggested changes regarding this process to your Senior Management by using analytics to support your recommendations. You will actively participate in the implementation of the approved changes.
  • You will be responsible for weekly and monthly reporting with monitoring KPIS on the following main 3 finance topics linked to sellers : Seller Onboarding / Seller cash flow monitoring / Financial Services.
  • You will help to create and strengthen internal & external processes to decrease seller debt with the Supply Ops team thanks to the construction of workflow charts and specifications.
  • You will help to develop and manage our internal and external tools to decrease seller debt by studying current practices; designing new modifications to implement and drafting improved procedures.
  • You will monitor the market best practices in terms of Seller Onboarding / Seller cash flow monitoring / Financial Services.
  • You will be a key contributor regarding the Seller Finance Team Confluence page by identifying projects’ milestones, phases and elements; forming projects teams; establishing roadmap & Monitor projects progress by tracking the activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.

  • You have a first experience in a Business Analyst or Project Manager position, ideally in a Tech and fast paced environment.
  • You are Tech and Data-savvy: You have strong skills with tools like SQL / Confluence / Tableau Software/ Salesforce and you can track down new ways to streamline, gain efficiency, and automate your work
  • You are eager to learn: You have a can do attitude & want to be a key player on a results-oriented team in a fast-paced work environment
  • You are a true team player
  • You have a high level of empathy – it is important for our Team to be seen as trustworthy and reliable both internally and externally.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • You master pack office tools. Excel is a no brainer for you.
  • You have the Ability to work independently and with others and are Extremely organized with strong time-management skills.
  • You are a good communicator and you like to turn complex data into accessible information to everyone
  • You like to do concrete things and get your hands dirty
  • How can I best prepare for the interviews?

Research. There’s blogs, there’s social media accounts, there’s a lot to discover and, believe us, that information will not go unnoticed in the interviews.

Practice. It’s not a secret that a question “please introduce yourself” is something that will be the start of many interviews and this is surely something you can prep for, it will ease your stress!

  • How do I know which team I’ll be allocated to? Which city?

Some teams are based in Paris, some in Bordeaux, therefore, it depends on this. You can share your flexibility in the application. Paris office (199 rue Championnet 75018) & Bordeaux office ( 123 Rue Lucien Faure, 33300). The offices are brand new & top-notch, I promise you 🙂

  • What is the application & recruitment process?

The application is straight forward – you attach your CV and answer some filtering questions. You choose the language you prefer to use in the conversations, except the initial call with HR. The rest of the process:

  • 30 min HR call with the recruiter (in English);
  • 48 hours to work on a technical test;
  • 30-45 minutes interviews (one of couple) to meet the team & evaluate your skills and cultural fit
  • Is the internship paid? What else is in the package?

Yes, indeed, the internships are paid. You also get meal vouchers, 6 days off throughout the 6 months & support for public transport expenses. And some discounts on Back Market’s platform, bien sûr!

  • How are the interviews conducted?

Phone call with the recruiter and then video calls (we use Zoom!).

  • How are you dealing with the pandemic?

We coordinate the capacity of our offices to be careful & respectful to the national recommendations. Currently we are coming 2x/week to the office & constantly adapt to whatever the latest recommendations are. Internships cannot be full-remote (unless absolutely necessary due to the pandemic).
