Internship – Flow Analysis for Plume Impingement (d/f/m)

Location: Bremen

Afterwards there is the possibility for writing a final thesis, upon agreement with the department.

As an intern (d/f/m) you will be part of the Airbus Defence and Space / Space Systems department “Mechanical / Thermal Products and Analysis” in Bremen. During this internship, the effects of plume impingement in lander concepts will be investigated using simple engineering methods up to more complex „Direct Simulation Monte Carlo“ (DSMC).

The Focus Will Be On

• External forces on the structure due to local pressures caused by impinging plumes
• Local heat loads due to impinging exhaust plumes
• Contamination/erosion of components due to droplet/particle

We Offer You Some Interesting Tasks

• Familiarization with and application of an existing DSMC Code
• Evolution and improvement of the DSMC code
• Documentation and presentation of activities

You Offer

• Enrolled full time master student (d/f/m) within Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or similar field of study
• Software skills: basic knowledge of programming languages: e.g. C/ C++ / Fortran or similar
• Technical skills: knowledge of fluid mechanics, numerical methods
• English: fluent
• German: fluent

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
