SAIT’s School of Transportation is the Institution’s oldest school, we stay at the forefront of this ever-evolving field through our work with industry partners. We provide hands-on, practical education for the automotive, aviation, heavy equipment and rail industries, and emphasize exceptional classroom education and hands-on training in our advanced learning spaces.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking two Instructors to provide instruction in SAIT’s Automotive Service Technician theory and practical curriculum in addition to providing ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners.

The successful candidates will be well-rounded, positive individuals with a willingness to learn, and enthusiasm to share their expertise who are looking forward to a rewarding opportunity to join an inclusive and supportive team!

The Role

  • Instruct and demonstrate course outline objectives, projects and outcomes.
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students

Qualifications & Experience

  • Requirements
  • 5 years recent Industry Experience – maintenance, repair, troubleshooting of passenger vehicles
  • Ability to read, interpret and deliver Apprenticeship program curriculum
  • Certified Red Seal Journeyman Automotive Service Technician
  • Strong communication, both written and verbal, comfortable with public speaking
  • Excellent organizational and time management
  • Assets
  • Teaching or training experience
  • Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others
  • Ability to adapt to situations such as unexpected workloads, scheduling changes, etc
  • Health and Safety training in the Automotive Industry
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Brightspace (LMR) and Zoom

Salary range: $38.41 hourly
