General context of the project

INTERSOS is a humanitarian organisation founded in 1992, working on the frontlines of crisis situations. In such contexts, INTERSOS focuses on providing forcibly displaced populations and host communities with life-saving humanitarian assistance, in the areas of Protection,Health & Nutrition, as well as WASH and Shelter.

INTERSOS operations are guided by its Charter of Values and by the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence. Specifically,INTERSOS is borderless, impartial, independent, sensitive to local cultures, attentive to local capacity, professional in solidarity, and transparent. INTERSOS also adheres to the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief.

INTERSOS develops its own Information Management (IM) methodology and tools based on the standard IM process of data collection, data storing and elaboration, data analysis, and data sharing.

INTERSOS uses dedicated tailored IM systems (for example, web platforms and online databases) to carry out IM processes.

IM systems are aimed to support internal organizational processes (for example, risk management, accountability, procurement, inventory management, fleet management, etc.) and support activity in the fields that directly impact the assisted people (for example, case management, legal services tracking, Health patient management system, survey, etc.).

The IM system’s needs are continuously evolving, and it’s necessary to upgrade the current IM systems and create new ones.

Furthermore, data visualization and maps are necessary to understand the information embedded in the data.
