Background information:

UNICC requires an experienced instructional designer to work in collaboration with the UNICC eLearning graphic designer for the delivery of the Salary Survey eLearning project to UN Secretariat/DMSPC.

The incumbent will work under the supervision and guidance of the Training Officer in the Learning Services Unit (DSL), within the Digital Solutions Centre Division (DS).

The Learning Services Unit is responsible for supporting UNICC clients in the design, development and delivery of capacity development programs in the area of ICT. It is also responsible for the design, development, and management of ICT-related elearning content and learning platforms. The Learning team currently entails 7 members, including Head of the service. One member of the team is a graphic designer, responsible for the projects related to eLearning. The incumbent shall work in close collaboration with the graphic designer.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Instructional Design:

  • Under guidance, work with key clients, partners and resource persons to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned learning programmes and knowledge management projects
  • Develop e-learning content/instructional material in close cooperation with graphic designer and SMEs using appropriate e-learning authoring tools, such as Articulate products, audio and video editing software
  • Develop training materials comprised of screen captures, process descriptions, reference to related policies, interactive tutorials, training manuals, packaging of training modules and assessments
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of e-learning/online courses

Platform management:

  • Support development, implementation and testing of functionality for UNICC Learning Management Systems (LMS) and learning platforms.
  • Support the design and implementation of custom LMS tenancies for UNICC clients.
  • Compile data and metrics as required, to contribute to monitoring platform performance and evaluating learning analytics.
  • Provide technical expertise to improve learning workflows and internal processes related to leveraging and deploying new enhanced learning technologies.
  • Carry out basic research on selected aspects of learning programmes, delivery methods and other aspects connected to learning processes and activities

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant working experience in educational design, learning management projects, LMS setup and administration
  • Experience in designing elearning content
  • Experience working with Adobe Captivate, Articulate or similar tools
  • Knowledge of Moodle learning management system
  • Ability to write documentation and reports

Desirable:

  • Experience in modern experience design formats such as Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) technologies for digital learning as well Learning Management Systems
  • Experience in content delivery to adult audience
  • Experience in drafting official documents and correspondence addressed to any kind of audience
  • Creativity / Ability to find innovative solutions
  • Experience working in the United Nations system, inclusive of peacekeeping missions, UN agencies, Funds and Programs

Education:

Essential:

  • First university degree in Human Resources, Communications or Marketing, Digital Arts or related field

Desirable:

  • Training/certification related to content development and/or training delivery

Languages:

  • Expert knowledge of English is required
  • Knowledge of any other UN language is desirable

Other Information

Compensation:

Fee will be based either on the National Officer salary scales or the Individual Consultancy band levels (for Headquarters)
