ABOUT THE STICHTING WHITE HELMETS

The Stichting White Helmets Foundation (SWHF) is an independent, international not for profit organisation that aims to provide aid to communities and persons recovering from conflicts and disasters; provide support and orientation to refugees and communities in hosting countries; and support justice and human rights efforts. The SWHF works in partnership with WH offices in Syria, Turkey and Canada.

SCOPE OF WORK

Under the overall supervision of the SWHF’s Operations Manager, the Human Resources Officer (HRO) is responsible for carrying out a wide range of HR tasks; end-to-end recruitment process, onboarding, processing payroll, staff wellbeing, and other HR related matters.

The Human Resources Officer will work autonomously and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end running of HR operations.

Tasks and activities:

  • Ensure compliance with SWHF policies and the local labour law in all procedures and processes.
  • Assist in reviewing and keeping up to date The organization’s HR policies and procedures, HR templates, and the organization’s HR management system in accordance with the local laws and regulations.
  • Collating and recording information for payroll within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Working collaboratively with the rest of the HR team members to ensure standard processes and procedures are understood, complied with and amended as required.
  • Liaising with internal System Developer to keep HR system and processes up to date.
  • Support and lead when needed the performance appraisal framework and supporting line managers when necessary.
  • Assist in setting-up staff well-being plans and properly implementing them.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Ensures accurate and proper record-keeping of employee information in electronic and digital format.
  • Assist with preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports.
  • Be a focal point person in the recruitment, contracting, induction and placement activities and support other White Helmets offices in recruitment when needed.
  • Assist with orientations, onboarding, and updating records with new hires.

Required qualifications: Education, Experience and Competencies:

  • University studies/ Higher education in Human Resources, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of proven professional previous Human Resources experience.
  • Very good knowledge of general IT systems and applications including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, HRIS, and Microsoft suite
  • Outstanding organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and also collaboratively within a team
  • Cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, and able to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff and stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English. Dutch and/or Arabic is desirable.
  • High standards of confidentiality, reliability, and discretion;
