This is an exciting internationally recruited opportunity to be involved in a full range of
UNRWA’s Human Resources functions as well as in cross-sectoral projects. You may be

The Human Resources Associate reports to the Director, HR and be based in Director HR’s
Office. The incumbent will take up different assignments and support HR and corporate
projects depending on the priorities of the Human Resources Department and UNRWA. The
incumbent may also be re-deployed temporarily or part-time to support the Executive Office
for special events or during periods of peak-work.
Responsibilities
Supports the implementation of special HR and corporate projects.
– Provides administrative support and assistance for special and cross-cutting projects,
including preparation of materials and organization of meetings. Conducts research and
synthesizes information related to topical and priority areas and projects. Supports the
collection and collation of information and inputs for audits, evaluations, and requests from
internal and external stakeholders. Maintains and updates tracking and monitoring tables and
other project and task management tools In close collaboration with the team in the Office of
DHR, monitors action points and liaises with stakeholders to support the effective functioning
of the HR Department.
Provides support to HR operational services.
– Assists in the provision of HR services for full life cycles of personnel through effective
administration of human resources Supports the implementation of end-to-end recruitment
processes, including facilitating submissions to the Advisory Committee on Human
Resources.
Supports in processing of a wide range of personnel actions and entitlement and benefits in
accordance with rules and regulations.
Provides support to organizational design and job classification:
– Participates in and. monitors life cycle of job classification requests to facilitate recruitment
and organization planning. Researches , analyses and compiles information and statistics
related to posts and staff for reports on staffing trends and to facilitate preparation of
workforce planning reports. Prepares various documentation related to job classification.
Support staff learning, development and well-being:
– Conducts research, analysis and data gathering to help identify training needs and develop
learning plans and other targeted training and career interventions for UNRWA. Assists in
organizing and conducting training courses, workshops and events which aim to build
capacity of stakeholders.
Facilitates knowledge building and knowledge sharing:
– Supports and conducts trainings, information sessions and clinics on human resources
matters, including on- and offboarding Contributes to the internal information channels for
HR, including intranet sites, and other communication tools. Keeps abreast of trends, lessons
learnt and best practices in HR, and synthesizes and proactively shares knowledge.
Contributes to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Education
– Successful completion of full secondary education.
– Two-year post-secondary diploma in human resources management, Business
Administration or related subject.
Job Specific Qualifications
Two-year post-secondary diploma in human resources management, Business Administration
or related subject is required.
Work Experience
At least six years of relevant experience in human resources management or related
administrative duties is required.
Unless already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System, at least
two continuous years of relevant international experience should be outside UNRWA, and
outside the country(s) of citizenship is required.
Knowledge of UNRWA’s Staff Rules and Regulation is desirable.
Bachelor’s’ degree in Human Resources Management is desirable.
Very good command of Arabic language is desirable.
Languages
Very good command of spoken and written English.
Very good command of Arabic language is desirable
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be
followed by competency-based interview.
Special Notice
Type of Contract and duration: 2 years, with the possibility of further extension.
