We are hiring a new Health Technical Lead to serve with our office in Juba, South Sudan and provide leadership, technical guidance, proposal development and design, and the implementation of high quality health activities. Work with others on the team to ensure Samaritan’s Purse is well positioned to respond to emergent disease trends and outbreak needs on an ongoing basis and to follow best practices. A day in the life of a Health Technical Lead in South Sudan:

In the role of Health Technical Lead, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Explore funding opportunities with the Grants Team for health programming and provide leadership to integrate ongoing health programs
  • Work with Program Managers to provide support and coordination of data collection, schedule, organize grant efforts, and review projects
  • Identify learning and training opportunities for Samaritan’s Purse South Sudan staff and work as a mentor and role model for less experienced staff
  • Liaise with the HR and operations department to ensure all Health program staff receive the necessary and appropriate technical support
  • Represent Samaritan’s Purse South Sudan (SPSS) with UN agencies, donors, South Sudan government, NGOs, and others at the central and local level
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in public health or clinical degree (nurse or doctor) with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in managing clinical/health programs in international public health work, and at least five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in Humanitarian work; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Substantial experience in the design, implementation, and management of Health Programs
  • Prior experience and technical skills necessary for strengthening integrated service delivery at the regional, national, clinical and community-level
  • Knowledge of institutional donors and a proven track record of developing funding proposals and reports for a range of institutional and other donors
  • Skill in at least two or more of the following technical areas: strengthening service delivery programs, training, pre-service education, performance and quality improvement, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in proposal development and grant management
  • Good knowledge of project cycle management and development
  • Good report writing and reviewing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required)

Travel Expectations: Travel within South Sudan up to 30%; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
