TEAM

The Health and Safety team is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the strategy to achieve an integrated approach to Health and Safety within the wider Integrated Management System. The team provides support, advice, guidance, training and oversight to the business on Health and Safety matters and play a key role in meeting our promise of being Safe & Responsible and the aims and objectives of our H&S plan.

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Specialist will combine supporting management system maintenance and administration with more active involvement with H&S Management activities including development and improvement of our H&S systems and processes, supporting with the H&S oversight programme and leading relevant investigations.

The range of activities on which the jobholder will advise and support is broad. It covers office environments and associated plant and equipment; fire safety; engineering and maintenance; construction and refurbishment; incident investigation; workplace risk assessment; hazardous substances; safety in training facilities; pan-European operations.

Job Accountabilities

  • The Health & Safety Specialist will work alongside other Health & Safety team members and other staff to conduct Health & Safety audits, assessments and continuous management oversight of Health & Safety across easyJet.
  • The H&S specialist will provide advice and guidance to colleagues based around the contents of the H&S management system
  • The Health & Safety Specialist will ensure corrective and preventative actions are executed or escalated as appropriate.
  • The Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for supporting production of periodic health & safety performance reports, investigation reports, audit feedback, task observations and project work in line with the needs of the H&S plan
  • The Health & Safety Specialist will conduct other Health & Safety activities as allocated or required by the head of H&S

Job Qualifications

Essential

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A formally recognised H&S qualification such as NEBOSH General Cert, NVQ or NCRQ
  • At least 2-3 years of experience within l Health and Safety
  • An understanding of environmental management. Experience in Health and Safety auditing and inspections. Proven ability to communicate technical matters clearly and confidently both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organisation
  • A good understanding of Microsoft and its applications.
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety Legal, Statutory and Regulatory requirements and understanding of where to go for guidance.
  • Drive, passion and enthusiasm to make all of the above work within easyJet.
  • The ability to work under pressure.

Desirable

  • Experience of working overseas and remotely for periods of time
  • Experience of developing and/or implementing Health and Safety Management Systems.
  • Proven experience of Facilities and Property Management, especially regarding health and safety requirements i.e. PPM, Hard/Soft Services, Internal/External Projects, Office relocations, construction and refurbishments.
  • A good understanding of engineering, workshops, PUWER and LOLER work activities in an engineering or manufacturing capacity.
  • Dealing with Unions would be useful but not essential.
  • Good knowledge and experience of working with CDM 2015.

Aviation experience or experience of working in equivalent high risk industries, especially around Engineering

LOCATION & HOURS OF WORK

This full-time role is 40 hours per week and will be a hybrid based role with regular travel to Luton & Gatwick with travel to other bases also expected, on occasion at short notice. Some occasional evening work is possible.
