CRS/Sudan is as dynamic and diverse as the needs of the people we serve. Since 1978, CRS/Sudan has been assisting the people of Sudan across the emergency, recovery, and development spectrum. In recent years, CRS Sudan has been undergoing a transformation as new opportunity for resiliency programming emerges and the context opens for deeper involvement of humanitarian organizations. The program is composed of several flagship projects that work under resilience and humanitarian response, with an annual budget of 30-40 million USD . Our main donors are BHA, WFP, GIZ, EU, UNICEF, SHF and similar initiatives to serve the communities in need. CRS Sudan has main offices in Khartoum, West, central, and East Darfur and works in collaboration with partners in North and South Darfur as well. Key sectoral areas for CRS/Sudan include food security, agriculture livelihoods, nutrition, health, education, protection, private sector en gagement, peacebuilding and natural resource management.

Job Summary:

As a member of the Country Program (CP) Senior Management Team, you will provide strategic direction, leadership, and management of Sudan CP’s programming to ensure the establishment and successful implementation of high-quality programs serving the poor and vulnerable. Your leadership, management and knowledge will ensure that the CP delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of its programming. Working collaboratively with other senior staff in the CP, you will provide strategic leadership to mitigate and manage risks, foster partnerships, and proactively promote staff safety and well-being.

Required Languages – English is a must, Arabic is an asset

Travel – Must be willing and able to travel minimum of 40 % in Darfur States.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Staff supervision and management experience and skills, conducive to a learning environment.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills, with capacity to see the big picture and ability to make sound judgment and decisions.
  • Strong relations management abilities. Ability to relate to people at all levels internally and externally. Strategic in how you approach each relationship.
  • Team leadership abilities
  • Presentation and facilitation skills
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions oriented and results-oriented

Supervisory Responsibilities: 5-6 senior programming staff, including Deputy Head of Programs, Program Manager for peacebuilding and Caritas projects, program Manager for UNICEF projects, Program Manager for Food Programming.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in International Development, International Relations or relevant field.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant field-based program management, at least three years of middle/senior management experience.
  • Successful track record in grants management and donors relations, particularly with USAID, WFP, UNICEF, and other public donors.
  • Experience in the development of successful proposals, reports, strategic alliances, project design, project management, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in partner capacity strengthening, staff development, training, and mentoring, as well as in team building and strategic planning initiatives. Experience working with Church partners a plus
  • Experience in community development, community mobilization, or similar grassroots, self-help initiatives.
  • Experience with successful business development activities capturing public and/or private donor funding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical English writing skills.
  • Experience and abilities in capacity strengthening – developing curricula and facilitating trainings.
  • Experience using MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems, and knowledge sharing networks.
