AstraZeneca’s Group Financial Reporting function is continuing its transformation journey with the objective of delivering excellence in financial reporting and control. We are currently seeking a Group Financial Accountant to join our Group Financial Reporting (GFR) team and help to deliver the financial reporting for AstraZeneca UK Ltd ensuring that monthly Group reporting requirements are fully in line with IFRS and AZ Accounting Principles, as well as supporting tax and local GAAP requirements.

Reporting to the UK Hub Financial Controller, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in the month-end close reporting

  • Monitoring and managing the accuracy of the accounting records for AstraZeneca UK Hub

  • Reviewing the monthly reporting of results into the Group consolidation and review a number of Balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Support the external audit activities ensuring deliverables are provided in line with agreed timelines. Work with key Finance groups including the AstraZeneca Finance Shared Service Organisation to ensure close processes are delivered in line with global close calendar

  • Support the delivery of process improvements and Finance Transformation activities for the UK Hub.

  • Support on operation of Financial controls including SOx

  • Participate in the preparation of the AstraZeneca Group Annual Report

  • Supporting global finance projects

Essential skills and experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Good understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP requirements

  • Be able to demonstrate strong technical and analytical accounting skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Focus on delivery and ability to work under pressure

  • Strong skills in Excel

  • External auditor liaison.

Desirable skills / experience

  • Working with SAP and Oracle HFM

  • Financial controls (SOX)

  • Working with outsourced providers
