How you’ll contribute

The Associate Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (CRE) will work as a key member of United Therapeutics Corporation’s CFO Organization (CFO-O) in support of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). The role’s primary function will be supporting Corporate Real Estate (CRE) activities acting as a finance business partner. This FP&A professional will be significantly involved in the contracting process along with researching and analyzing financial information to support the making of well informed business decisions, improvement of internal controls and improvement of business processes. They will also drive new finance initiatives while innovating current processes. This role will provide data, information and analysis in a timely and efficient way, provide insightful and actionable analysis to budget owners, and create processes to inform and increase speed of decision making. In addition, they will participate in the development and ongoing monitoring of the annual budget and participate in the forecasting process for ongoing real estate operating spend and capital projects.

  • Develop and construct contract documents supporting Corporate Real Estate activities, including preparation of documents, management of change order/ change request processes, and revisions of agreements
  • Provide financial oversight for large, multi-year agreements through collaboration with business operations, outsourcing, legal, and third parties
  • Monitor purchase order utilization ensuring necessary contracts and purchase order updates are completed on a timely basis
  • Reconcile and review purchase requisitions against capital project budgets
  • Complete complex invoice resolution to ensure long-term and short-term solutions supporting accurate payment to vendors
  • Gather quarterly accrual support through analysis and qualitative discussion to support corporate accounting quarterly close
  • Use deep understanding of objectives, issues and root causes and provide insightful, fact-based data analysis to help solve complex problems; provide financial and strategic decision support to senior management
  • Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce cost and improve financial outcomes
  • Perform detailed review of pay applications and invoices related to capital projects
  • Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risk
  • Gain and update job knowledge to remain informed about technical changes within the finance, accounting and/or pharma industry
  • Drive or assist with driving process improvements or policy development initiatives that impact the functioning of the business processes for which they are immediately involved
  • Perform financial reconciliations, forecasting and operational metric tracking
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Summarize and note any unusual spends/variances within the forecast template to be utilized for the quarterly forecast meeting
  • Partner with budget managers in the development and ongoing monitoring of the annual budget and participate in the forecasting process for ongoing real estate operating spend and capital projects; assist budget managers on any contract/budgetary issues or concerns as analytics/research or training is needed
  • Provide support to UTC’s Financial Planning & Analysis Team on other matters as needed with a focus on budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc analysis
  • All other duties as assigned

For this role you will need

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting or Finance
  • 6+ years of experience in a Financial Planning and Analysis role, or similar role, with a working knowledge of business operations
  • Organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, the ability to synthesize information and the ability to successfully interact with executive-level professionals
  • Proven working experience as a financial analyst
  • Advanced/often/strong communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Advanced in Excel, proficient in ERPs and MS Office
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as within a group/team
  • Strong flexibility and adaptability skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (MA/MS/MBA)
  • Experience in presentation, reporting and communication skills, including to executive management
  • Well informed in current financial subjects, accounting and business environment
  • Ability to improve and streamline processes
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
