Job Purpose

The Grants Manager is responsible for managing grant and finance administration within the Europe Asia Department across specified projects/programmes. They will be experienced in managing complex and large (£1,000,000 per annum+) donor grants, managing partnership arrangements and leading on budget design and tracking. Their role will include contract management to support the delivery of effective and sustainable peacebuilding, leading on programme finance tasks, and ensuring compliance with Conciliations Resources’ organisational policies and donor requirements, whilst adapting appropriately to the context.

Person Specification
Essential knowledge, skills and experience

  • Experience of grants and finance management, including within a consortium setting and of working on projects of an annual value of over £1,000,000
  • Demonstrable experience of contract management of EU grants and contracts. Confidence in engaging with international donors on contract and
  • grant management.
  • Proven experience and confidence in financial management across all aspects of project management and experience in complex donor budgets, with inputs from multiple organisations.
  • Experience of ensuring compliance with donor requirements and with safety and security standards on projects in complex environments.
  • Substantial experience of project management including project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and narrative and financial
  • reporting to donors.
  • Demonstrable experience of preparing, managing and monitoring budgets, and of monitoring and collating partners’ financial and narrative reporting.
  • Experience of developing and adapting templates and mechanisms that are suitable for different organisations and contexts.
  • Experience of working with international, national and local partner organisations in conditions of current or recent conflict.
  • Appreciation of confidentiality, political sensitivity and the complexities of working in a situation of unresolved conflict or political transition.
  • Experience of and sensitivity to communicating with multicultural and diverse audiences (including senior government officials, politicians, opposition groups, national and local NGOs and conflict-affected communities).
  • Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple complex deadlines.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Excel.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours on occasions and undertake frequent international travel.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience

  • Relevant finance and/or project/grant management qualifications.
  • Familiarity and/or knowledge of the EU’s Operating System (OPSYS).
  • Experience of working in a conflict-affected area, and experience of hostile environment training or willingness to undertake hostile environment training.
  • Experience of working in/knowledge of the conflict contexts in the South Caucasus region
  • Competency in Russian
  • Experience living and working in one or more of the regions covered by the Europe-Asia department.
