The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is a unique and dynamic membership organisation which comprises 15 of the UK’s leading humanitarian charities: ActionAid UK, Action Against Hunger, Age International, British Red Cross, CAFOD, CARE International UK, Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide (UK), International Rescue Committee (IRC), Islamic Relief Worldwide, Oxfam GB, Plan International UK, Save the Children UK, Tearfund and World Vision UK.

Pooling our resources to work as one, we are pivotal in co-ordinating the UK public’s response to overseas disasters. In collaboration with our Rapid Response Network of national media and corporate partners, we raise the alarm to the UK public and set up easy ways to donate, with the majority of our funds raised over an intensive two-week period following a disaster.

Since our launch in 1963, we have run over 75 fundraising appeals and raised more than £2bn, saving countless lives and rebuilding communities.

We are now looking for a Grants Manager to join us and provide oversight to our funded programmes on a full-time basis for a three-year fixed term contract.

This is a rare opportunity for a proven project manager with experience of working with humanitarian data and financial management skills to join us as we work with our members to deliver vital humanitarian aid to the people who need it the most.

With the opportunity to work with leading INGOs and NGOs, as well as government bodies such as FCDO, your work will help to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Ukraine.

The Role

As a Grants Manager, you will oversee our funded programme responses with a focus on programme adaptation, reporting and communications.

Specifically, you will work with members to ensure that programmes are delivered to maximise impact will handle key communications and provide briefings to high level stakeholders. Support our Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning initiatives for specific responses.

Managing our reporting capacity, you will review and evaluate the consistency of member agency plans, reports and data coherence, as well as managing our external reporting requirements.

Additionally, you will:

– Co-ordinate the team’s surge capacity including managing external consultants – Update Appeal FAQs – Co-ordinate our Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning initiatives

About You

To be considered a Grants Manager, you will need:

– Proven experience of effective project management – Experience in managing web-based databases for programme data and financial management – Experience of analysing and presenting complex data across audiences – An understanding of humanitarian response programmes including MEAL processes – High levels of technical ability with data analysis and visualisation software – The ability to provide advice, training and capacity building support across diverse teams – Excellent technical reporting skills – Excellent communicative skills – Strong problem-solving skills – Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to form strong relationships with a range of stakeholders

You may on occasion be required to work additional hours in response to an emergency, events held outside office hours or to extra workload. Where possible, notice of this will be given and TOIL (time off in lieu) is available. Occasional UK travel and overseas visits may be required.
