Job Summary,

The Grant and Resource Mobilization department in Al Sharq is responsible for exploring funding opportunities for Al Sharq’s ongoing and potential programs, including development and private sponsorships. The department mobilizes financial and in-kind supporters for Al Sharq’s activities. It develops requests, proposals, and concepts either in response to a request, request for information, or unsolicited calls. The department keeps track of the grant programs and reports back to the donor on the progress and completion of the activities.

The internship assignments are a learning opportunity for fresh graduates to realize the civil society and development sector, understand the existing community challenges, and how these challenges could be addressed with programs. They will have a chance to learn the program development and management cycle and how it can be transformed into a proposal or funding request.

Al Sharq plans to offer a full-time job to those interns who complete the internship program and show potential to grow in the field. As such, it highly encourages individuals with a long-term career plan in grants and resource mobilization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct desk reviews and research on various development and humanitarian contexts to realize the existing situation in the communities and respond with innovative projects.
  • Map the youth/institutional funding context within which the organization operates, including potential donors, sponsors and partners, available funding, and ongoing funding reforms.
  • Identify opportunities for partnering with donors, European Commission, international NGOs, national NGO and other organizations.
  • Reach out to potential donors and partners, network with them and build proactive relationships.
  • Communicate ASF mandate, objectives, strategic plans, policies, programs and resources requirements with donors and partners.
  • Monitor new calls for proposals, review the published ones, identify ASF eligibility and coordinate the submission process ensuring applying best practices to submit winning proposals.
  • Manage the development and preparation of expressions of interest, concept notes, projects proposals and other related documents.
  • Serve as the liaison focal point with external organizations on resource mobilization and partnership matters.
  • Work closely with the forum’s departments to identify funding gaps and prioritize institutional funding needs.
  • Develop and prepare partnership and donors/partners relationship related reports
  • Maintain and develop the organization’s external database.
  • Assist in building the team’s proposal development and report writing capacities.
  • Identify other resource mobilization opportunities including but not limited to the private sector.
  • Identify best practices and lessons learned directly linked to resource mobilization and partnership-building activities to continuously improve resource mobilization and partnership-building practices and ensure sustainable funding.
  • Support the direct manager with donors/partners relations and other related/concerned stakeholders.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in development studies, project management, international relations or political science.

Skills:

  • Be able to conduct independent desk research
  • Analyze data and understand contextual indicators
  • Be able to document and write.

Language:

English and Turkish are a requirement. Arabic would be an advantage.
