This role could be homebased or based in the UK in the London office (with the opportunity to work from home on some days each week in line with Christian Aid’s hybrid working approach). The salary quoted is for homeworking but if based in our London office, the salary will be £40,650.

About the role

Reporting to the Corporate Security Manger (together forming the ‘Security Unit’ Centre of Excellence of Safety and Security), the role sits within the International Department. The Security Unit primarily provides support to the staff of the International Department, made up of UK based staff, international staff in overseas program, national staff in overseas programmes including the Global Partnership.

As Global Security Advisor you will facilitate the implementation of Christian Aid’s work overseas through effective Security Risk management in line with the Security Policy. Support the country teams and programmes through the provision of information, project and incident management and other administrative functions as required. Provide advice and assistance to personnel deploying, or deployed, overseas. This Role will have occasional opportunities for overseas travel.

About you

As Global Security Advisor you will have:

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to balance a high workload
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Excellent writing skills, able to produce clear and concise reports
  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations and briefings to peers and managers
  • Comprehensive understanding of the physical security discipline, focusing on operations.
  • Strong organisational skills, task oriented, self-starter that demonstrates a high degree of initiative and requires low supervision.
  • Strong work and compliance ethic, and the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic and high-pressure environment
  • Ability to change plans, goals, actions, and priorities in response to an evolving international context.
  • Ability to develop, and maintain security related processes, procedures, program baselines, training, and improvement plans. Physical security management experience

This role requires applicants to have the right to work in the country where this position is based.

From 1 July 2021, the process for completing right to work checks has changed and we can no longer accept EU passports or ID cards as valid proof of right to work, with the exception of Irish citizens.

There are now two types of right to work checks: a manual check and an online check. A manual check can be completed against relevant documentation as outlined by the Home Office. An online check can be completed if you hold digital proof of your immigration status in the UK. We will require your share code and date of birth to carry out this check. All successful candidates will require either a Basic or Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service certificate (DBS) and a Counter Terrorism Sanction check as part of your clearance for commencing your role with us. Information will be forwarded to you by the HR team with your offer.
