Here’s where you come in:

As the Global Director of Operational Risk, you will work under the VisionFund International (VFI) Chief Risk Officer to drive the implementation of the VFI Operational Risk Framework, both in the Global Centre, and in the Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), with a particular focus on the MFIs with larger portfolios. The position links all elements of Operational Risk, ensuring the Framework components of the Target State are all covered, such as Risk Strategy and Appetite, Governance, Risk processes, People & skills, Systems, Technology, Regulation & Compliance, and Communications. You will manage the Operational Risk taxonomy, and ensure this is embedded in the Organisation’s Risk Appetite, and that reporting against the appropriate and agreed Operational Risk metrics occurs.

You will also oversee the rollout of Operational Risk Frameworks within the MFIs, ensuring that their Frameworks are aligned with Global Centre’s Framework. You will also oversee the rollout of Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) and the develop the necessary training for MFIs to engage with this. In addition, this position will develop the appropriate metrics to measure Operational Risk and will ensure as an organization we can capture the necessary data to measure against agreed tolerances.

Requirements include:

• University degree, preferably in banking or business administration.
• 10 years’ experience in microfinance or financial services.
• 5 years’ experience in regional and/or global roles in microfinance which have included responsibilities in Operational Risk policy, products and processes.
• 2 years technical experience in MFI or Financial Services internal controls, policies, products and processes.
• Effective in written and verbal communication in English is required, and Spanish command is strongly preferred.
• The position requires ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
• Able to work from home if required.
