Job Title: ​​General Manager of The Marine Shop
Reports To: ​​Vice President, Retail
Department: ​Retail TMS
FLSA Status: ​Exempt
Date:​​ ​October 2021

Summary of Position
Oversee and administer all functions related to the daily operations of The Marine Shop. Ensure a high level of customer service. Supervise management support staff, sales associates, mail order department, tailors, and seamstresses. Execute Marine Corps Association objectives, delivering results in sales, profit, and customer service. Implement all MCA audit and loss prevention standards.

Essential Duties
• Provide oversight of all operations within the brick and mortar The Marine Shop
• Provide oversight and management in the following areas: driving sales, cost control, loss prevention awareness, labor relations, operations, and inventory control management
• Ensure and deliver exceptional customer service and resolve customer issues
• Provide daily oversight of all employees and ensure appropriate training and development is conducted
• Execute effective performance management
• Develop and maintain a team-oriented environment with particular attention to the diverse workforce
• Ensure comprehensive administrative requirements are fulfilled
• Manage all loss prevention policies and audit compliance requirements
• Conduct close coordination with Strategic Communications section for marketing efforts and identification of needed materials
• Conduct close coordination with Facilities section to ensure safety and appropriate maintenance of building and workspaces
• Ensure appropriate financial reporting and budget management in cooperation with Business department
• Provide oversight of daily operations including opening and closing the store, assisting team with cash handling, and preparing daily bank deposits
• Implement all facets of inventory control in close cooperation with Purchasing Manager
• Network with USNA, OCS, TBS and MOI’s to organize Marine Shop displays and uniform fittings
• Ensure compliance with MCA policies and procedures, general governmental regulations, employment, and safety laws, (FMLA, OSHA, ADA,) and other legal mandates
• Other duties as may be assigned by management

• Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or 5-10 years retail experience.
• Ability to handle multiple and changing tasks
• Commitment to superior customer service
• Strong Leadership and supervisory skills
• Knowledge of standard retail procedures
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills and communication (verbal and written)
• Ability to build and be a part of a team-oriented environment
• Flexibility and creative problem-solving ability
• Ability to work under pressure
• Possess strong initiative and self-motivation
• Appreciation and respect for the diversity in the workplace
• Commitment to the retail division and to the company’s mission
• Understanding of the MCA culture and the USMC

Computer Skills
• Must be computer literate.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Knowledge of CounterPoint and Nimble
