URGENT CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

FHI 360/Philippines (www.fhi360.org) is looking for a Gender Consultant under a short-term work engagement status for USAID’s TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening project in the Philippines.

Background:

The TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TB IHSS) Project is a 5-year USAID-funded project that aims to strengthen national and regional level implementation of the National TB Strategic Plan by providing state-of-the-art capacity building and technical expertise to scale-up TB and DR-TB prevention, detection, and treatment. The Project will identify and help implement proven approaches to improve prevention, increase case detection rates, decrease default rates, and increase treatment success and cure rates across the continuum of care.

Detailed Description of Tasks to be Performed:

  • Meet and discuss gender issues with the TBIHSS project teams
  • Develop gender activities in coordination with TBIHSS project teams
  • Implement gender activities at implementation sites in coordination with project teams
  • Monitor gender activities and collect data based on gender project indicators
  • Draft the gender report for TBIHSS quarterly reports and other reports as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience working on projects promoting gender integration and women’s empowerment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading gender analysis and assessment.
  • Experience providing support to formal and informal education programs, leadership trainings, and local organization capacity building.
  • Knowledge of US Government regulations, policies, and procedures or those of an equivalently complex international government funding organization.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, creative problem solving, conflict, and ethical management skills.
  • Fluency in English desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (Microsoft).

Required Education/Job Experience:

  • Master’s level degree required in gender studies, education, international development, political science, or a relevant social science discipline.
  • At least eight years of experience working to integrate gender into development programs and leading gender analysis and assessment, including a minimum of four years of demonstrated managerial and/or team leadership experience supervising technical staff.
  • Strong management skills as well as salient technical experience integrating gender into development programs, preferably in the Philippines.
  • Specific experience and specialization in the areas of formal and informal education; leadership training is strongly preferred.
  • Significant project management experience and leadership is required.
