Trace Systems is actively recruiting for a GCCS Administrator to provide support for the GCCS-J systems. Through proper system administration and system monitoring, this role is responsible for ensuring GCCS-J systems are available and operating efficiently.

  • Provide on-site system administration support and installation/configuration or assist with installation and configuration of GCCS-J servers and clients in Kuwait and at supported sites.
  • Propose and evaluate Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products or unique solutions (scripts, business practice re-engineering) to streamline system administration and/or user access to GCCS-J systems.
  • Troubleshooting system problems and make recommendations for problem resolution.
  • Through proper installation and integration efforts, ensure the GCCS-J hardware is compliant with approved program of record (POR) build.
  • When system deviation is necessary to support mission requirements, ensure approval is obtained from the GCCS-J program office and ensure industry best practices are followed to ensure the systems operate as securely as possible.
  • Conduct normal preventative maintenance measures monthly for each site, to include log monitoring, disk usage and system backups.
  • Monitor systems daily for anomalous conditions such as excessive CPU or disk usage and slow application response.
  • Be responsible for supporting hardware, software and licenses installed on the GCCS-J equipment on Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) and United States Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation Systems (US BICES) network enclaves, servers and clients for the following Joint GCCS-J C2 systems and Army AGM operating systems, such as Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (Subject Matter Expert), and Sun Solaris, databases (such as SQL, NoSQL and Oracle) and VMWare.

Perform The Following Duties

  • Recommend procurement of hardware with minimum specifications as determined by the responsible Government Program Office
  • Propose rack space design for servers with proper cooling systems
  • Install patches and security fixes
  • Build and configure major releases
  • Rebuild / restore systems when necessary due to failure or operator error
  • Participate in theater GCCS C4 working groups, the USCENTCOM Command and Control Support Systems Working Group (C2S2WG), GCCS and GCCS video teleconferences (VTCs), and other relevant working group meetings as required by the Government for attendance; participation; and consultation.
  • Provide an embedded, responsive, and available GCCS-J support posture, with on-site coverage at least 70 hours per week and on call 24 hours/7 days a week.
  • Provide full scale operations and maintenance (O&M), to include building, maintaining, administering, updating, and securing systems, servers, applications, and C2 data and information related to GCCS-J.
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience as a systems administrator in an environment with multiple operating systems to include UNIX, Solaris, LINUX, VMware, and Windows.
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience operating and maintaining servers in a virtualized environment and in compliance with DoD IA directives and policies.
  • Knowledge of directory services, DNS, and IP networking.
  • Familiar with the Army Mission Command Essential Capabilities, Joint C2 Systems (GCCS-J), Army Mission Command Systems (CPOF), and Army Unified Capabilities (GCCS-A).
  • Familiar with all applicable Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Instructions (CJCSI) and Directives that apply to GCCS-J.
  • A current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (SEC+CE) certification.
  • Certification in a Unix based operating systems such as Solaris or LINUX or a computing environment (Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification or higher is required.
  • Due to the nature of the work, an active US Government issued Secret clearance is required.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Position requires a High School diploma / GED
