Introduction to the country office:

NCA has had a presence in Iraq intermittently since 2003.  Most recently, NCA re-opened its country office in North Iraq in 2014 in response to the crisis resulting from the invasion by the IS.

NCA Iraq is implementing a Peace building and gender-based violence (GBV) program designed to facilitate the recovery and reintegration of survivors into their communities and challenge the cultural norms that perpetuate GBV. NCA also works in peace building.

NCA implements its GBV programs in (Alqoush, Sinjar Town, Sinjar Mountain, Sinuni, Tel Kaif/Musol, Baaj and Al-Hatra)

 

Information about the position: NCA is seeking to hire GBV Programme Officer, based in Mosul with frequent travels to NCA’s areas of operation in Ninewa.

Information about the contract: This is a fulltime Four-months contract with possibility of extension

Qualifications

Job description

  • Identify, build, and manage collaborative partnerships with consortium partners, donor, local government, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure overall project targets and donor obligations are met.
  • Overall responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of monthly and weekly activity plans in NCA`s mobile team, women and girls’ safe space, PSS units inside PHCs and mobile teams to achieve expected results.
  • Provide technical support and oversight to the GBV prevention and response teams.
  • Line management responsibilities for NCA mobile team and safe space staff including (psychosocial worker, case workers, community outreach workers and psychologists).
  • Ensure that all programme data are properly, safely and regularly collected and stored by staff.
  • Gender Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) and Data protection responsible in above mentioned areas (prepare monthly report, consolidate GBVIMS reports,
  • Ensure that all planned activities such as psychosocial, community outreach, including community (women, men and volunteers) committees, case management and mental health services are implemented on time, to quality measures and within budget as per the monthly plan
  • Closely work with case management officer/ assistants and ensure that case management team; implement and respect the best-practice as per GBV IASC standards.
  • Liaise and coordinate with local government authorities, service providers and other stakeholders in targeted area.
  • The person to be employed must be loyal to Norwegian Church Aid’s Christian values and accept the Code of Conduct of ACT Alliance.

 

Qualifications

  • University degree in Social Science, Psychology and/or at least two years’ relevant area work experience.
  • Experience working with IDPs, returnees and vulnerable communities in camp and non-camp area.
  • Management experience of GBV/ Mental Health Projects.
  • Working knowledge of CRSV and GBV survivors of conflicts, knowledge of reporting to GBVIMS IR and case management.
  • Experience with participatory fieldwork, reporting and monitoring of results.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles, code of conduct and GBV best practices.
  • Speaks English and Arabic fluently, Kurdish is an added advantage
