During our 10-week summer internship program, you’ll join our Functional Genomics group in the Therapeutics department to advance our efforts in target discovery in the fields of immunology, immuno-oncology, cardiovascular metabolism, osteoarthritis and other disease areas. You’ll have the opportunity to develop skills such as collaborate with colleagues in the biology in a corporate setting. The dates for Cohort 1 will be June 5, 2023 – August 18, 2023; the dates for Cohort 2 will be June 20, 2023 – September 1, 2023. Successful candidates will assist our efforts in applying functional genomic techniques to better understand the function of disease-associated variants.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and generate omics data sets including single cell and single nuclear RNA-seq
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the biology and computational biology groups to design and analyze functional genomics experiments
  • Present and discuss results of an experiment in team meetings and research presentations
  • Keep accurate and complete laboratory documentation and electronic files

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing MS or PhD in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology or related field
  • Strong expertise in molecular biology including cloning, DNA and RNA purification and diverse PCR methods
  • Experience in cell biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, lentiviral transduction, transfection and running functional cell-based assays
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with an ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work onsite 40 hours/week Monday-Friday
  • Authorization to work in the US

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience in processing mammalian tissue samples is desired
  • Deep knowledge in the field of immunology is a plus
  • Experience in NGS library preparation, 10X Genomics scRNA-seq platform is a plus but not required
  • Ability to analyze NGS data and knowledge of linux, R and/or python is a plus
  • Experience with flow cytometry/FACS
