18-24 months FTC/Permanent – Client Facing Assurance Learning & Development Content Senior Manager

The opportunity

We are recruiting for a client facing audit senior manager to join the UK FSO Assurance L&D Team from April 2022. The role is for a content senior manager across a range of Assurance courses with the expectation that they spend time in our London Churchill Place office, around 40% of their time with the rest from home and are open to additional ad-hoc travel to other locations in London for any physical classroom event management.

Purpose

The FSO Assurance practice in the UK has approximately 1,780 professionals delivering external audit and other assurance services to clients within the financial service industry. It also has a dynamic and fast growing Financial Accounting and Advisory Services (FAAS) and Extended Assurance group (EA). The UK practice is part of EMEIA FSO Assurance which operates across 18 international locations and encompasses more than 5,600 staff.

The FSO L&D team stives to create exceptional learning experience that equip our people to build trust and confidence in their area of work. We deliver on this by co-developing and delivering on the Assurance learning strategy, comprising technical training and broader initiatives for our people, from school leavers and graduates through to partners. Areas of focus for the team are:

  • Audit Academy for Assurance professionals from our school leavers and graduates through to experienced manager
  • Experienced Professional Induction for experienced hires and mobility recruits
  • Audit Essentials and IFRS curriculums covering our technical training for qualified staff through to partner
  • Role related learning (such as US GAAP, CASS related learning)
  • Industry specific learning (Banking, Insurance, Pensions and Wealth and Asset Management)
  • Audit transformation initiatives stemming from global, EMEIA FSO or the UK

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and assessing applicability of Global content for the FSO business, influencing through feedback, and working with subject-matter resources where FSO additions are required
  • Developing additional regional audit technical, and specifically industry specific, content to support the UK FSO firms ambitions and meet Regulator expectations
  • Ensuring that hot topics and inspection findings from internal and external regulatory reviews are incorporated into course content
  • Planning, developing and actively facilitating at Train the Trainer events (including the involvement of subject matter resources from the business) to upskill our UK FSO facilitators
  • Building relationships with the EY Assurance facilitator pool for technical or industry specific events
  • Collaborating with other team members to ensure we are achieving our quality assurance initiatives, including facilitator quality and recognition
  • Partnering with curriculum managers to oversee deployment activities and provide support to course consultants and coordinators with issue resolution
  • Building relationships with other teams to ensure quality training is delivered at the best time for the business (i.e. PPD, Resourcing)
  • Ensuring that we effectively monitor and chase compliance with the learning curriculums and report this to leadership on a timely basis (i.e. Talent Lead, QEL, AQB)
  • Creating and monitoring the FSO Assurance L&D budget and reporting outcomes to FSO and EMEIA FSO leadership
  • Assist with providing responses to our regulators on our learning curriculum and implementing any enhancements or changes to processes or the curriculum as required
  • Supporting the CPD team with remediation plans for non-compliant learners
  • Reviewing and assessing learner, facilitator and SMR feedback to support continuous improvement and influence Global and EMEIA FSO content maintenance and development
  • Attending and implementing actions from Global or EMEIA FSO meetings and provide feedback as to how this impacts the UK FSO learners
  • Participating in wider FSO Assurance L&D activities including team meetings, cross-curriculum discussions and strategic projects as required
  • Support the logistical management of a portfolio of courses working with the Level 1 L&D administrators and technical course managers.

Skills/Experience required:

  • Experience as a client facing audit senior manager, with strong technical skills from recent experience of auditing financial services entities
  • Strong proficiency in the use of ISAs and a varied and current portfolio of audit clients, with Digital audit experience where possible
  • Excellent facilitation skills or a strong desire to take this on and grow in this area
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Confidence and competence in interacting with individuals at all levels across EY
  • Commitment to, and enthusiasm for, developing our people through best-in-class learning

  • Strong project management skills with a key eye for the smaller details
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities, multiple stakeholders and to deliver to tight deadlines
