Brief description of HIH:

Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (HIHFAD), previously operating as Hand in Hand for Syria, was established as a UK registered charity soon after the start of the Syrian crisis in 2011 by a group of British Syrians to deliver humanitarian assistance to civilians impacted by the conflict in Syria. From humble beginnings the charity has grown to become one of the leading humanitarian actors serving Syrian communities both inside Syria and in neighbouring countries, employing over 1000 staff in Syria, Turkey, and the UK. As the organization grows, it now handles multiple institutional donors such as UN, International NGOs, and bilateral governmental agencies.

Purpose of the Position:

FSL Program Coordinator is responsible for overall design and implementation of FSL Program in-line with HIHFAD strategic objectives and following all of the commitments with donors as well as for capacity building of the FSL team staff, Program reintegration/coordination and donor relationships.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing needed assistance to Program Manager in developing projects, ensure its smooth implementation, and assist the project team to undertake FSL activities.
  • Contribute to provide and review agriculture technical studies and coordination with the field teams to prepare studies for agriculture, Food Security and Livelihood interventions.
  • Contribute to all of the related FSL proposal writing task-forces.
  • Being effectively involved in regular reviewing the exist and drafting the new related FSL SOPs and policies.
  • Track the progress of activities, ensure the collecting of project indicators and provide on-time internal status reports.
  • Being effectively involved in Recruitment process starting with drafting TORs, JDs and interviews.
  • Supporting new employees during the orientation process.
  • Supporting all team building activities.
  • Be effectively involved in Performance Appraisal Process.
  • Being effectively involved in training needs assessments of the FSL programme team.
  • Support programme manager to cooperate partners, project stakeholders and attending cluster/coordination meetings.
  • Oversees proper utilization of the material resources in the FSL projects, oversees the optimization of expenditures.
  • Ensuring the projects will achieve its target and cover the needs of beneficiaries by supervising and leading field teams to implement projects’ activities remotely in-line with humanitarian standards and clusters recommendations.
  • Ensure the high level of good communication and coordination with HIHFAD operation and support departments to ensure the smooth implementation of the activities in-line with the internal SOPs and policies as well as within the planned timeframe.
  • Ensure that FSL projects are being designed/implemented in-line with core humanitarian standards and principles taking in consideration different needs of women, children and PWD.
  • Ensure that all of the projects/needs data and information is updated, well organized and easily accessible.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomist engineering or Bachelor’s degree in administrations with experience in management of different kind of FSL Projects.

Experience:

  • At least Five years’ work experience in humanitarian sector, and 2-year FSL Coordinator or similar role.
  • Good experience in Project management and remote management of FSL Projects such as Agriculture, Value Chains and Food Security.
  • Good experience in reporting to partners/donors for project progress and implementation.
  • Good Technical knowledge in Agriculture (GAP: Good Agriculture Practices) and Food Security especially in NW Syria context.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven management skills, multi-tasked, well-organized approaches.
  • Leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Very Good written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • good knowledge in Computer skills especially Microsoft Office.
