Forklift Operator

Overview of position

Under the overall supervision of the Logistics Officer and the direct supervision of the National Fleet Officer in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating our client trucks/vehicle to load and unload materials/items and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks into warehouses and/or storage facilities. S/he will be accountable for the safe and efficient of the forklift.

Role objectives

• Being a vital component of the warehouse, ensures the warehouse items are properly placed and stored.

• Visualize plan and procedure on how to properly arrange the materials in the warehouse in order to maximize space and ensure safety.

• Load, unload, receive and transport warehouse items to and from warehouse and storage facilities.

• Ensure that the materials and items being loaded, unloaded, and transported are secure, accurate and without damages.

• Maintain forklift equipment by inspect for damages in the vehicle and schedule them for maintenance and repairs.

• Keep appropriate records and reports to ensure inventory control and security are maintained.

• Clean work area and equipment regularly by removing empty pallets, wood, and plastics.

• Strictly adhere to OM’s policies and procedures including prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse and promotion of a respectful work environment.

• Undertake work related travel at the request and approval of the COM.

• Other duties as assigned and needed to support the program objectives.

Key competencies

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree from technical or trade school with four years of relevant work experience; or

• High School Certificate with six years of relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience as a forklift operator or a similar role with safe driving record

• Valid driver’s license

• Relevant trainings, licenses or certificates will be considered favourably

SKILLS

• Proven understanding of safe forklift operation practices

• Familiarity with industrial equipment

• Ability to lift heavy loads using the required machines, work in heights and if required work long hours while sitting/standing.

• Ability to simultaneously control an array of levers and pedals to lift, move and transport materials as required.
