About the role

The purpose of the role is to support the Finance and Operations Manager and the Country Programme by leading on all aspects of financial Management, Reporting and Compliance for Christian Aid for DRC Country program. The role acts as the focal person for reviewing financial transactions and ensuring that financial systems and processes designed for the Country Office are adhered to in line with the reporting timelines agreed. The role holder will support the finance and Operations Manager to facilitate external and internal audits, and will ensure adherence to all statutory requirements, as it relates to tax authorities and other regulatory bodies within DRC. The role will support the Finance and Operations Manager on processes such as annual plans, forecasting, cashflow management, payroll management and reporting. The role holder will directly line manage the finance Officers for Kinshasa, Kindu, Bukavu Tshikapa and Goma Office to ensure that financial data and transactions are processed in an efficient, accurate and timely manner and that sufficient quality check is conducted on all financial transactions before they are entered into the Accounting System

About you

You have a minimum of 7 years Specialised knowledge of financial management and reporting with attests 5 years supervisory roles in NGOs setting, a Finance/ Accounting Degree (or equivalent), professional qualifications or master’s degree in the relevant field, proven ability to deal with a wide range of financial procedures and issues, considerable experience in accounting or finance-related environment, significant experience in using computerised financial systems, reconciliation of financial information, including experience in working with foreign currency, experience of the working of NGOs and donor funding and advanced skills in using Microsoft office packages, specifically Excel. Working knowledge of English and French is added advantage and good knowledge of SUN System is desirable.

You are able to produce and submit monthly accounts and financial returns in line with the month end reporting timetable, maintain cash, bank books and other financial documentation in an accurate and timely fashion, reconcile Balance Sheet accounts and update Reconciliation logs on a timely basis, effectively manage budgets and produce timely variance reports (BVA reports), manage cash flow demands for the Country Programme by collating and submitting timely cash requests to the Finance and Operations Manager, ensuring adherence to Christian Aid and donor financial policies and procedures, lead in preparation of final accounts and ensures all annual reports are filed to relevant authorities by due dates, support internal, external and donor audits and any actions dealt with in collaboration with Finance and Operations Manager and build and maintain good relationships with third parties, suppliers and grantees through positive. communication.
