Overview of position:

  • CTG is looking to hire a Finance Professional for our upcoming projects with our client in Papua New Guinea.

Role objectives:

  • Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs, collecting operational data.
  • Identifies financial status by comparing & analyzing actual results with plans & forecasts.
  • Guides cost analysis process by establishing & enforcing policies & procedures; providing trends & forecasts; explaining processes & techniques; recommending actions.
  • Improves financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, recommending actions to management.
  • Reconciles transactions by comparing & correcting data.
  • Maintains database by entering, verifying & backing up data.
  • Recommends actions by analyzing & interpreting data & making comparative analyses, studying proposed changes in methods & materials.
  • Increases productivity by developing automated accounting applications, coordinating information requirements.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Project reporting:

  • This role reports to the line manager.

Key competencies:

  • It is preferable to have an internationally recognised professional finance or accounting qualification primarily ACCA (with valid membership), Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Management Accountant (CMA), Chartered Accountant Certification, Chartered Financial Analyst & similar.
  • Previous experience audit or advisory services is preferred.
  • Ideally not a specialist in tax returns for this companies, but rather a professional who already worked on grant schemes, aid programs.
  • The closer to the health sector the better, but this is not indispensable.
  • The most important is some level of familiarity with funding mechanisms, management of grants & reporting requirements.

Team management:

  • This role does not have any team management responsibility.
