Action Against Hunger | ACF-USA

Action Against Hunger-USA is part of the Action Against Hunger International network, which provides humanitarian relief in over 40 countries worldwide in the sectors of nutrition, health, water/sanitation, and food security. Action Against Hunger-USA, an independent NGO, currently manages operations in 7 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Haiti and Somalia. Action Against Hunger-USA has approximately 1,500 staff based in the various country offices, Head Quarter in New York City and Operational Centre in Nairobi. Additional growth is anticipated.

Summary Of Position

To deliver and implement strategic management of all the logistics and administration aspects of the mission and the day-to-day security. Design and align all logistics & administration policies and procedures and lead in coordinating relevant activities at mission level and for the provision of proper support to programs. The Coordinator – Logistics & Administration follows security developments in Uganda and manages all aspects of mission security as delegated by the Country Director.

Purpose:

Will be responsible for executing the organizations financial transactions and manage budgets by ensuring financial data accuracy, effective and efficient utilization of resources in line with the Organizational and financial management policies, procedures as well as the donor policies and guidelines.

Key Activities for this role will include:

  • Record all monthly commitments and recharges; Receiving and Importing all the books from bases in SAGA at the end of the month, ensuring cash counts and Bank reconciliations have been received from field.
  • Matching of inter mission funds transfers in SAGA
  • To ensure respect of the ACF finance procedures and Cash Management Policy at the Regional office level.
  • Ensure safekeeping of ACF funds and assets and make cash count as per set requirements.
  • Ensure liquidity at HEARO and advise the Finance Manager for need of exchange operations.
  • Ensure HEARO day to day expenditures are in line with the approved cash forecast, analyze discrepancy between actual expenditures and cash forecast
  • Review of mission financial documentation to ensure completeness before filing.
  • Preparation of Annual Statutory Audit for the organization and provide auditors with necessary documentation during audits.
  • Follow up on recommendations provided by auditors to ensure that they are adhered to.
  • Ensure salary Allocation is charged correctly to the projects.
  • Occasional will be required to provide support to the Regional Finance Specialist on various tasks
  • Any other duties as will be requested by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • CPA K Qualification holder
  • At least 3 years work experience in NGO
  • Required Skills & Competencies
  • Basic Knowledge on donor rules & regulations
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Experience using financial software
  • Knowledge in Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
