Finance Officer

We are looking for a Finance Officer to assist with financial and accounting requirements for the Sierra Leone Country Office. Reporting to the Country Finance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting all the primary financial transactions, accounting movements and documentation in EDT Sierra Leone and ensure financial transactions and records are undertaken and maintained in accordance with internal policy and procedures, local law, client requirements and international accounting standards.

• Implementation of Finance and Procedure Manual: Primary responsible for implementing the programme and country level finance policy under the guidance of the Finance Manager/SSA Head of Finance
• Payment Processing: Process all payments including supplier and staff account payments.
• Bank and Cash Book Management: Prepare and maintain in file the monthly bank and cash ledgers including the administration of bank and cash payments.
• Accounting Records:Maintain proper accounting records (hard and soft copies). Ensure all accounting records are available for users including external auditors.

Person Specification

• Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, or other relevant area of discipline
• A thorough understanding of accounting concepts and financial procedures for development partners such as UNICEF, FCDO, EC and USAID
• Knowledge of the financial requirements necessary to be compliant with the laws of Sierra Leone
• Experience of undertaking balance sheet reviews and understanding the link between the Financial Accounts and Management Accounts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite packages (Advanced Excel highly desirable)
