Finance Manager

Benenden, one of the leading boarding schools in the country, is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations. Reporting to the Finance Bursar with regular liaison with both Senior Management and Department Heads the Finance Manager will assist the Finance Bursar with the management of the finance team deputising as required; directly line managing the Fees Billing Administrator, Purchase and Accounts Administrators and Assistant Accountant.

Main duties entail the preparation of monthly management accounts, and assisting with all statutory accounts, audit file and corporation tax returns for Benenden School (Kent) Limited, Benenden International Limited and Lime Avenue Sales and Services Limited (LASS), the School Shop. Duties also include maintaining balance sheet control for all areas of responsibility and producing the operational budget for the School, leading the review and analysis of annual budgets and assisting with forecasting.

Successful applicants will be fully qualified accountants (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA or another recognised professional accountancy body) who possess strong management skills. The successful candidate will have advanced Excel skills and ideally have a working knowledge of Sage. We welcome applications from candidates from a range of current roles, including from those looking to progress their careers or make a move into education, working within a school previously is not required.

Applicants should be hard working, flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities; be able to assist other roles within the team and step in to provide cover during absence or assist during busy periods.

Founded in 1923, Benenden School is situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent, the Garden of England. Meals are provided to staff whilst on duty. The School’s leisure facilities, including a fitness gym and swimming pool, are available for staff to use.
