Finance Assistant / Cashier (Only Turkish & Syrian Nationality)

INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN RELIEF

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure cash management by being responsible for all cash boxes: guarantee that the money is disbursed and/or the advances given according to the rules, and from the right cash box and allocated to the relevant project(s).
  • Regular cash reconciliation (ensuring that physical cash balances are matching cashbook records).
  • Sending updated cash position to Finance expert / Finance officer on a weekly basis.
  • Do the follow-up of the advances given and settled on time.
  • Inform on a regular basis if there are enough funds in the cash boxes for all projects.
  • Guarantee that the exchange of currency is done properly and from a reliable exchange office.
  • Check the vouchers and the relevant supportive documents (quality, authenticity, reliability, accuracy, and fairness).
  • Participate, if needed, in the major payments which have to be done in the field.
  • Collect the relevant supportive documents in regard to the expenses/ purchases/ payments done in the field.
  • Upload and file all posted vouchers after getting the signatures needed.
  • Ensure due payments for all items and services (after approval) and advances.
  • Guarantee the respect of IHR financial guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure that Turkish Accounting Rules are met with each voucher/ transaction done by the Finance Assistant / Cashier.
  • Routinely work with and be responsible for the original payment and related supporting documents entrusted to him/her: collect, check for compliance, process, file according to instructions, and maintain confidentiality about the content of the documents.
  • Scan Vouchers for all projects and be responsible for filing electronic scan files and the overall organization and maintenance of the scanned archive.
  • Substituting other staff during their absence.
  • Prepare direct payments from HQ after checking contracts and invoices.
  • Fulfillment of any other tasks assigned by the management that correspond in general with the nature of this position.

Other:

  • Perform any other duties and tasks commensurate with the post’s responsibilities and level.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Another future responsibility/accountability may be assigned to the job, depending on the department’s organizational chart.

Qualification (education/work experience)

  • Finance/Accounting qualification
  • Work Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional experience in a similar position, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Advanced level of English writing & Speaking skills and Turkish.
  • A desire to learn and work in a challenging but rewarding environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure alone and as part of a team.
  • A strong sense of integrity.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and deliver on set objectives within given Deadlines.
  • Approachable and willing to listen and assist finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Ability to occasionally work with a varying schedule including occasional evenings, early mornings, and weekends as needed to accommodate wide-ranging time zones and the occasional weekend meeting.
