Description
Function Prerequisite:
The Finance Assistant is part of the projects support team and part of the finance staff lead by the Senior Finance Officer. The Finance Assistant reports to the project Finance Officer on finance related matters. The position requires:
- Good knowledge on accounting and finance matters
- Excellent cooperating ability, both with national and international personnel
- Good written and spoken English, Arabic
- Familiarity with commonly used computerized accounting software
- Communicative, mature and responsible
General Responsibilities:
· Work within the framework of NPA core values · Act as an ambassador for NPA, through professionalism and conduct · Adhere to all NPA policies, regulations and procedures · Maintain and care for all equipment issued by NPA and for any loss or damage, you will be liable for repair or replacement · Follow all verbal and/or written instructions, unless in direct violation of safety and duty of care Ensure a safe workplace and protect all staff and equipment from damage/ injury |
Responsibilities:
Finance
· Main responsibility of maintaining USD and IQD cash boxes, record daily transactions in Cash Book and reconcile the cash account balance regularly. · As cash box holder, prepare and pay the cash payment based on the valid supporting documents as per NPA regulations. · Make sure all supporting documents such as PR, PO, contract, and valid bills/invoices are received, and necessary signatures are obtained before making any payment and settlement of advances. · Arrange all payments individually with all relevant supporting documents to hand over to SFO when comes for month end cash count. · After completed all authorized signatures, scan all vouchers including supporting documents as soon as it is posted in to Agresso by Finance Officer and upload to SharePoint in regular basis · Perform cash reconciliations daily and do monthly cash count with a management staff.

Required Qualifications:
Must have: |
- Bachelor degree in finance or accounting
Desirable: |
Higher degree
Experience:
Must have: · 1-2 years’ experience in finance Desirable: · Experience in working with International NGO`s |
- Familiarity with commonly used computerized accounting software
- Able to work effectively under, & adapt to, difficult conditions
- Willingness & ability to travel within the country
Personal Competencies:
· Ability to function under pressure with minimal supervision |
