Job Description
The objective of this internship is to enable the Finance Intern to explore career opportunities in the non-profit sector while helping them acquire practical skills. The primary role of the Finance Intern will be to assist Apathy is Boring���������s Finance Team in file and document management, data entry, budgeting and analysis, project management skills, and general administration. The intern will play a key role in supporting Apathy is Boring’s financial and administrative efforts.
Additionally to working from the comforts of their home, the Finance Intern will have the opportunity to learn about Canadian civics and broaden their perspectives of our country through collaboration with Apathy is Boring���������s regional staff based in cities across Canada – including Iqaluit, Montreal, Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver.
The Finance and Admin Intern will acquire valuable professional experience in the nonprofit sector that will be transferable to a wide varisettings, including, but not limited to – general administration, accounting, project management, and more.
Skills/experience:
Previously or currently enrolled in Business, Accounting, Social Sciences, Humanities or related programs at the post-secondary level.
Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
Strong active listening skills in taking direction and self-motivated initiation on assigned tasks.
Comfortable and familiar using Google and Office 365 programs.
Familiar with file management methods and systems, SmartSheet knowledge is an asset.
Ability to analyse and then categorize information from various sources, such as financial invoices, receipts, internal financial documents, etc.
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Good written and oral English skills, and proficiency in written and oral French.
