SoCha LLC

Background:

SoCha, LLC is contracted to provide technical and advisory services to the United States Agency for International Development in the Democratic Republic of Congo (USAID/DRC) on the 5-year Mission Strategic Support Program (MSSP). The purpose of MSSP is to provide these services in planning, designing, conducting, disseminating, and learning from monitoring and evaluation of the Mission’s portfolios assisting the mission with strategy and activity-level performance monitoring, evaluation, and learning, including conducting data gathering and verification, data visualization (including Geographic Information Systems), data quality assessments, impact and performance evaluations, assessments, organizational learning, and collaboration among USAID’s implementing partners. The activity has a capacity-building agenda for the mission and Implementing Partners, developing a baseline of M&E knowledge within the mission and tailoring a curriculum to provide skills development to mission staff.

SoCha is looking for an experience Field Monitoring Interviewer Supervisors for a mission of 15 days.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising the data collection and for ensuring the execution of the activities according to the directives of the supervisor.
  • Actively participate in the interviewer training organized by SoCha before the deployment of the field team for data collection. Contribute to the field deployment plan.
  • Ensure communication with local authorities and other stakeholders in the field, about the survey and obtain the required field authorizations.
  • Identify respondents to be interviewed in the field and obtain verbal or written consent before administering the survey questionnaire.
  • Organize morning and evening debriefing sessions and document information that may affect data collection.
  • Produce a daily progress report of data collection activities while maintaining open communication with his supervisor.
  • Ensure security follow-up before and during data collection in the field and inform the SoCha security advisor daily.
  • Ensure that field survey objectives are met in a timely manner and all collection activities are carried out in accordance with the protocol dictated by the MEL Socha MSSP team. Submit forms to the Kobo server and document evidence deemed useful in the field.
  • Carefully keep the collection material assigned to his team according to the protocol dictated by the supervisor and ensure the delivery of each material before the end of the field visit.
  • Prepare and submit to the supervisor a report on the end of the investigation according to the model provided.
  • Facilitate Semi-Structured Interviews (KII) or Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and transcription into required format.
  • Perform any additional task given by his supervisor.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Hold a university degree (BAC+5) in one of the following disciplines: statistics, economics, social sciences, anthropology, law, education, community development, monitoring and evaluation, public health, medicine, conflict management, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience managing field surveys and collecting qualitative and quantitative data in the field within international organizations and preferably with USAID-funded organizations.
  • Knowledgeable in as Kobo, ODK, CommCare, SurveyCTO and the use of Andoids.
  • Ability to speak and write fluent French and several national languages of the DRC with a good knowledge of local cultures and customs.
  • Spoken and written English is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the “Do No Harm” principle, sensitivity to conflict, abuse, and gender-based violence (AAP, PSEA, Safeguard).
  • Ability to work in difficult conditions and in fragile areas.
  • Strong skills and ability to work independently, in a team and in a stimulating work environment,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong desire to establish good working relationships with colleagues and target communities in the field.
  • Ability to be deployed to the field on short notice based on urgent project.
  • Experience transcribing semi-structured interviews (KII) or focus group discussions (FGD) as needed.

Location:

The selected candidates will be deployed to the territories of their respective provinces according to the specific needs of the project under the supervision of the MEL team of the SoCha office in Goma.
