Asset Management Operations (AMO) is the operational backbone of Fidelity International, crucial to the accurate, timely and efficient administration of our funds. Located in several global locations, including Dublin, we provide the middle and back office functions for the company ranging from trade settlement, corporate action processing and NAV generation, through to the production of reports and accounts for our funds. Asset Valuation is comprised of two teams – Pricing and Fair Value. The Pricing team is responsible for the daily pricing of all securities held by onshore, offshore and institutional funds. The asset types covered include Equity, Fixed Income and Derivative instruments which are valued at multiple valuation points during the day.

The Fair Value team provide support to the Fair Value Committee who ensure that all FIL’s customers are treated fairly and equitably through implementation and application oversight of valuation policies. The Fair Value responsibilities include determining a reasonable value for securities that do not have regular exchange traded or market price, where outside influences could affect the value of associated holdings at the point of fund valuation. Fair value pricing is performed on both a market and individual security level.

Purpose of the Role

The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the manager in ensuring all securities held by FIL funds are valued in accordance with the requirements of the FIL valuation policy, as well as assisting with the running of both BAU operations and adhoc initiatives as required.

Key Responsibilities

Operational
Ensure all daily operational deadlines are met by the team including those designed to identify potential issues.
Provide detailed analysis to the Manager on valuation issues and escalate as appropriate in the absence of the Manager.
Support the running of the overall Asset Valuation process particularly during the valuation points.
Ensure checklists are accurate and up to date daily.
Troubleshoot issues and escalate where appropriate to Technology groups.
Ensure all queries are responded to in a timely manner.
Escalate risk exposure issues in a timely manner.

Build and maintain relationships with both internal stakeholders and external parties
Support and participate in cross departmental projects
Demonstrates team spirit; puts team needs ahead of personal preferences
Work with colleagues to generate and deliver effective solutions
Train, support and encourage the team.

Planning and Organising
Organise and mobilise others to achieve effective outcomes displaying a systematic approach to work
Oversee the continuing review of procedures and checklists, ensuring that best practice is in place and risk exposure has been addressed.
Manage critical deadlines and responses to urgent valuation decisions, utilising team skills and strengths as appropriate
Has a positive, hands on and constructive approach to all challenges
Ensures team records are easily accessible and meet audit requirements

Essential Skills And Experience

Experience and Qualifications Required
Experience of security pricing for Retail and Institutional Funds such as equity, fund of funds, fixed income or derivative pricing.
Understanding of core fair value concepts
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a time critical environment
Capable of juggling and prioritising multiple tasks
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Effective decision-maker; can present and defend an argument or decision
Organised with excellent attention to detail
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
Demonstrates strong sense of ownership; can work independently to deliver results
Effective problem solver; can troubleshoot issue independently
Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
Risk aware; learns from mistakes and does not repeat them.
